The hotel was generally nice but also badly impacted by covid. The majority of hotel staff seemed untrained and very green to the industry. This was saved by a truly excellent Guest Relations Manager (Robyn), the Housekeeping Manager and a couple of other staff. Rooms were nicely designed, relatively spacious and very comfortable. On check-in, the room was very clean but the Housekeeping was terrible until complaints were made; which led to temporary improvements. We assume that a lack of seasonaires and maybe staff sickness left the hotel in a position where jobs had to be given to anyone who applied, rather than being in a position to pick the most suitable applicant. We appreciate that this is an industry wide problem. On the flip-side, the attached Velvet Lounge (managed separately from the hotel) had excellent staff; all incredibly friendly, able to easily build raport and make guests feel welcome and valued. Food was decent and the excellent bar staff knew any cocktail you could imagine.

The Josie, ski in / out is a great addition to Red Mountain Resort. Nice hotel with lovely staff especially in the restaurant. The ski concierge is a nice treat. Unfortunately the pool / spa terrace had not been built - the Josie only having been opened 2 months - but this will be a lovely asset when completed - outdoor pool on the side of the piste - fabulous before or after hitting the slopes !! Parking at the hotel is NOT included $25 per night I feel is a little steep, but there is plenty of "public" parking.
