Paul Beard - Fernie - 23 Jan 2020 - Lizard Bowl, Fernie
It would have been 5 stars, but totally beyond the control of Ski Safari or the Fernie resort, it rained most days. Still had a good time, but not the conditions we would normally expect there. Soaked every day, but at least the heating in the apartment was efficient enough to dry everything overnight!

Resort had a lovely feel. Lots of difficult skiing and Cat skiing was great. Ski passes are expensive. A week here was great but long enough.

David Bradley - Snowy Fernie
Had some amazing skiing in Fernie. It kind of reminded me of kicking horse. Lots of bowls with steep chutes feeding into them, with easier runs through the low point of the bowls. had some awesome light powder the first few days. But then we got a bit of rain. I reckon if this hill was just a little higher, it'd get less rain and would be one of my favourite ski resorts ever as the terrain is incr…

A week before we arrived it was raining in Fernie base and we had heard grumblings but we arrived to mega dumps. In 5 days my partner and I benefited from over 1.5m of new snow over a good base. And yes it's pure Canadian powder - amazing snow to really push yourself in the 5 bowls. Trees, steeps, chutes - you name it Fernie had it for us. If I never ski again Fernie 2020 would be my favourite exp…

Good. We're probably colored by the fact that there was no new snow for a long time! Blues cover a huge range, and many are very dark blue. Great area, but not as good for a less confident intermediate as the lift map suggests.

Skiiing - Uncrowded slopes and no lift queues. Skiiing is a little one-paced as Fernie consists of five bowls most of which are fairly similar. The top Polar Peak lift was only open on three days. Some lifts are slow. Probably a lack of fresh snow didn't help. Not a resort for the beginner as a lot of the slopes are quite steep. Mountain village - Has a useful shop for basics. Town - Nice, access…

We would not recommend this resort to intermediate skiers. There is a big jump from the beginner (green) slopes to many of the intermediate (blue) slopes marked on the piste map. And people should be made aware a good proportion of the blues are not groomed. For those just moving up from green to blue this is would be a bad choice. Especially when the clouds descend. So not a good all around famil…

Heavy snow meant restricted slopes initially but on day 2 and after runs were pisted excellent choice for all abilities. Old fashioned former mining town with plenty of choice of eateries and welcoming locals.

Owain Baker - Fernie - 28 Feb 2018
A wonderfully friendly, small mountain resort alongside a traditional Canadian coal-mining town full of charm. On mountain there is a small but encompassing selection of bars and restaurants, whilst in town there is an even larger choice. The resort is everything you could want for a true skiers holiday - convenient, friendly and not too harsh on the pocket!
