Ski holidays in Fernie have cult status for their fantastic powder and steep terrain. Alongside the resort’s big vertical, Fernie has a good variety of slopes and grand vistas of the Canadian Rockies.

Advanced skiers and adventurous intermediates have the most fun here, with five alpine bowls for making the most of the plentiful powder. Towards the base, the easier pistes that tumble between the trees offer welcome respite on the home run.

The on-mountain village is small, with a handful of restaurants and bars, but you can catch the regular shuttle bus into town for more options (or drive if you've hired a car).

We can’t talk about downtown Fernie without mentioning the nightlife; we’ve had many a great night out here, and no trip is complete without visiting Yamagoya Sushi - a Japanese restaurant and popular local hangout.
