The First Snowflakes Have Fallen in North America

Winter has arrived with a bang in North America. This time last week, we were wondering if the lack of early snow might impact opening dates, but after a week of up to a metre of snowfall and perfectly cold temperatures, some resorts are planning to open earlier than ever before.

The first snow of the year always gets our team excited for winter - especially those heading to the mountains in December. We'll have more updates when the snow starts falling across the rest of the world (usually around mid-November), but in the meantime here are the best snowy shots from across Canada and the USA.

Canada

While most of British Columbia and Alberta have been blanketed in snow, the biggest totals come from interior BC where up to 62cm has fallen this week.

USA

The USA is usually the first destination in our programme to see serious snowfall and this year is no exception. In fact, there's been so much this week that Keystone in Colorado is open today and Vail is planning its earliest-ever opening day on 11 November.
