Silver Star is a resort of character and one or two surprises. The predominantly intermediate and beginner terrain of the mountain's south face, where the village is located, is a great confidence booster. But it is deceiving - the back side of the mountain has a string of tricky blacks and double blacks falling from the top of the Powder Gulch Express worthy of a much bigger resort.
The village is a tight cluster of colourful buildings with a ski-through main street. But there is more going on than first meets the eye. The excellent Mogul's Sports Bar, for example, is tucked away underneath the Bulldog Hotel and there is a good selection of restaurants and shops as well as the excellent Bugaboos Bakery Cafe.
In addition to the on and off-piste action there is excellent cross-country skiing, tubing, skating and even a climbing wall. Children are well looked after at the Star Kids Centre. Silver Star has recently been acquired by Big White and the two now share a lift pass.
Young Children - Silver Star offers daycare for children from 18 months to 6 years and as the resort facilities are all very close together, it is a good resort to go to with small children.
The Knoll - Take an evening stroll around this attractive residential area with its large, colourful homes.
Experience the best of the Okanagan - Combine Silver Star with a stay in Big White.
