Located in the Selkirk mountains of British Columbia, just minutes from the town of Revelstoke, Revelstoke Mountain Resort offers lift, cat and heli-skiing/ boarding holidays in one mountain playground.
Revelstoke was once the exclusive playground of heli and cat skiers from around the world. This all changed in 2007 with the opening of Revelstoke Mountain Resort and its big plans for the future. Development both on and off the mountain continues as the area is transformed into a four season world class holiday resort.
The resort now features the longest lift-serviced vertical descent in North America at 5,620 feet. At present there is 3031 acres of skiable terrain accessed by 2 high-speed quad chairs, an eight-passenger gondola and a Magic Carpet lift on our dedicated beginner slope. A mid-mountain lodge features breathtaking vistas and full-service restaurant with espresso bar, deck with barbeque and retail shop.
With majestic alpine bowls, legendary tree skiing, a continuous fall line and lofty rolling groomers, the terrain options are endless. Another half-million acres of snow-cat and helicopter skiing and snowboarding terrain are offered by the resort.
The first on mountain accommodation - The Nelsen Lodge is complete and will be open for the 2009/10 winter season. This will be the start of the on mountain village and this will grow over the years as the resort develops. Revelstoke itself is a typical Canadian mountain town with a good selection of bars, restaurants and a good selection of accommodation.
The Resort Master Plan
The $1-billion, four-season Revelstoke Mountain Resort is expected to be completed over 20 years and will ultimately include over 5,000 new housing units (2,000 hotel suites, 1,500 condos, 850 townhomes, and 500 single-family lots).
The Master Plan also calls for up to 500,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, a signature 18-hole golf course, summer sightseeing gondola rides, extensive hiking and mountain bike trails, and a village heli-centre
When complete, Revelstoke Mountain Resort will have over 20 new lifts and over 100 new runs.
Selkirk Tangiers Helicopter Skiing is located in the heart of the world’s best heli-skiing. Two impressive mountain ranges, the Selkirks and the Monashees, provide unmatched terrain. Unique snow conditions and mild climate provide great powder December through April. Selkirk Tangiers boasts over 500,000 acres of terrain with over 200 established runs.
Revelstoke Cat-skiing offers access to untracked terrain and world-renowned powder skiing in the legendary Selkirks. Snowcats will take skiers and boarders to all levels of terrain, from wide-open bowls, to steep chutes and cornices.
Details of both heli-skiing and cat-skiing in Revelstoke will be added to our website shortly. In the meantime, please call Rupert on 01273 224 060 for details.
Best as part of a Rockies Ski Safari
The skiing at Revelstoke is challenging and at present is good for intermediates to experts - there is not much for beginners and low intermediates. You could happily spend several days skiing the challenging terrain of Revelstoke however, until more development happens, you would not really choose to spend your whole holiday here (although you could as the terrain and snow are so good).
There are some exciting Rockies Ski Safaris that can be put together incorporating Revelstoke Mountain Resort - for serious skiers the three resorts to combine that spring to mind are Kicking Horse, Red Mountain Resort and Fernie. Please take a look at our Rockies Loop Safari for ideas or call Rupert on 01273 224 060 to discuss the options.
