Why Kicking Horse?
Kicking Horse, has developed into one of British Columbia’s most unique ski resorts. Renowned for its formidable terrain, with a vertical drop of over 4,000 ft and 2,850 acres of terrain, it will test the most seasoned skier, yet offer a rounded ski experience for intermediate skiers. With an average snowfall of over 23ft, you are ensured powder stashes within the 4 alpine bowls, with creamy cruisers taking you back to the Golden Eagle Express.
This is Big Mountain skiing at its best and the resort is set to become even better in the future - the newly approved Master Plan which spans a 40-year period calls for a world class, destination mountain resort with an expanded controlled recreation area, 20,000 bed units, an 18-hole signature golf course, a multi-use trail system with 11 proposed lifts and 4,188 acres of skiable terrain.
The most recent phase is ready and the 4th Alpine bowl 'SuperBowl' opened during the 2010/11 season - this added over 1000ft of new vertical and 15 more inbound chutes. The terrain is rated as advanced and expert and access is via a new ski traverse trail.
Accommodation on-mountain is superbly convenient, just steps away from the lift. Kicking Horse offers 5 restaurants, including Eagle’s Eye Restaurant – Canada’s most elevated dining experience. There are more accommodation, dining and après ski options found in Golden, an authentic mining town, located 12km’s from the resort.
Shuttles - There are shuttles running from Calgary Airport and Banff/Lake Louise to Kicking Horse - please ask for details. There is also a shuttle between hotels in Golden and the ski hill.
