Affectionately called "Pow Mow" by locals, this is an old-school, laid-back ski resort, with 100% natural snow (no snowmaking facilities whatsoever) and a real no-frills approach compared to some of the mega-resorts you'll find nearby. That makes it incredibly good value for money - despite being one of North America's largest and snowiest ski resorts, only an hour from Salt Lake City.
Powder Mountain has the fewest skiers per acre of any resort in North America. Skier numbers are strictly limited by a cap on season passes (3,000) and day passes (1,500). You come here for one reason - uncrowded, knee-deep, incredible powder-pocket skiing.
The in-bounds skiing and snowboarding is split over five peaks and is accessed by nine lifts, a shuttle bus and three snowcats. If that's not enough, guided backcountry, snowcat and heli tours are all available.
Most people stay 20 minutes away in Ogden Valley, a laid-back locals town, which makes it a perfect place to twin with the even lesser-known but equally incredible resort of Snowbasin. Within an hour's drive, you can also access the two powder meccas of Snowbird and Alta, or even combine it with a bigger road trip on our Utah & National Parks Ski Safari.
