With its chalet-esque exterior and excellent bar, the Alpenhof is a little bit of Austria in California.
It has a superb location right across the street from the new gondola that takes skiers from the town to the mountain and is close to the shops and bars. Rooms have either a king or two queen beds. Rooms with fireplaces are also available. The Matterhorn Restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner and the Clocktower Cellar is one of Mammoth's top spots. There is a hot tub, sauna, games room and the free shuttle stops outside.
