Built in 2023, the stunning Elva Hotel succeeds in effortlessly blending the natural with the contemporary, providing an unforgettable stay overlooking the waters of Lundarvatnet in Voss.
As you enter this thoughtfully designed hotel, the enormous floor-to-ceiling windows are hard to miss, inviting the outdoors in. No matter where you are, nature is placed front and centre.
The restaurant, which was awarded with One MICHELIN Key from the MICHELIN Guide 2025, offers a weekday 3-course evening menu and wine pairings, as well as the Elva’s signature 7-course tasting menu (Saturdays only), to experience local and seasonal produce at its best.
The Elva Hotel & Restaurant has five wooden buildings: one main building and four stilted annexes, or ‘mini-houses’, each set along the shore of Lundarvatnet Lake. Every room has an exclusive, minimalist feel, with modern Wonderland beds and seating. The walls are stained a deep dark, drawing in natural light from outside, creating a serene atmosphere and a surprising sense of privacy.
There are just 14 rooms which are free of TV screens, although you’re free to bring your own digital devices - WiFi is available. From the main building, connecting rooms and additional beds are optional, which is perfect if you are a large group.
For some well-earned relaxation, the Elva has a woodfire sauna and three outdoor Jacuzzis on an open-air deck, overlooking the frozen lake and surrounding mountains. You won't get a more scenic soak anywhere else!
If you'd like a cosy spot for coffee or après, The Elvatun Cafe continues the theme of locally sourced produce, serving homemade biscuits, platters of cheese and cured meats, sandwiches, locally made apple juice and alcoholic beverages in a rustic, wooden lodge setting.
The Elva is a 10-minute drive from the nearby Bavallstunet ski area or the Voss Gondola, which leaves from the heart of Voss. The hotel offers a free shuttle transfer to and from the slopes.
