The Gausta resort is beautifully located at the foot of Gaustatoppen, the highest mountain in the Telemark range. The slopes offered ideal conditions for skiers of all levels, with stunning views, uncrowded lifts and several great cafes at various points at the foot of the runs, and a convenient shuttle bus running between them.

Gausta is a beautiful small, mindfully developed resort with a spa hotel at its centre, other hotels and a lot of cabin chalets around. It offers a range of ski experiences (alpine, nordic, snowshow) with a focus towards the alpine learner. Excellent ski school, lift/queuing times and runs for a ski trip. Fabulous gem with lovely skiing, stunning surroundings. The ski school and the courtesy shown by other skiers was refreshing after the alps. We were a mixed group and everyone enjoyed it and would return. As a bonus there’s so much else to do.

Gausta is a lovely mix of mainly wooded runs with some beautiful views into the basket and across the mountain. We love skiing there with quiet slopes even in half term and well groomed pistes plus good off-piste through the trees. Great for intermediate skiiers and above, plus good ski school for complete beginners - but few easy green runs!

A beautiful location in the pine forests and frozen lakes of the Telemark region, with some long winding runs through the forest for cruising down as well as some great reds and blacks if high speed carving is your thing. Quite a few runs are serviced by drag lifts but the benefit of that is that fewer people are arriving at the top of the slope at any one time and so the runs are quieter. There's…
