Much quieter than Niseko / great tree skiing.

Worth a day-trip from Niseko to ski amongst the trees and through the valleys (and out of the chilling wind). Indeed, we returned 3 times in a week! Whereas many of the Niseko lifts were closed due to high winds.

Liked this resort the best for the snow conditions and access to in bounds "off piste". A large hotel with lots of options for eating.

Rusutsu is a little more concentrated [than Niseko] but brilliant skiing and a higher concentration of backcountry in comparison to pistes. The apres is non existent though and the bars don't even open until 5pm... I felt a bit restricted at the Rusutsu Resort Hotel, even though it was pleasant enough.

Easy to access all the ski runs. Few of the lift didn't operate to allow access to the top of he mountain mid week (other skiers informed us they work at weekends). Quirky little resort with theme parks and the main building kitted out like a giant dolls house with a carousel (Disney land in the snow???!!!)
