A good range of skiing and we were lucky enough to have fresh snow on 4 mornings. Most of the time there were no queues to the lifts and the pistes were fairly quiet. The gondola staff would take your skis and put them on the gondola and take them off again at the other end. Nice service. We enjoyed our stay at the Goryukan (Hakuba) which is a good 4* hotel and would recommend it. We had a Japanese room which was spacious and clean but I did miss not having any chairs to sit on in the room. The kettle was filled each day and the heated toilet seat was a pleasant surprise! The breakfasts were nice and the chef would cook you an omelette or fried egg as needed. It was easy to arrange the hotel shuttle bus to take us to different ski areas and to be picked up. The Onsen was nice provided you don't mind bathing with strangers. We also stayed at: Hotel Granvia - Kyoto - great location, comfortable rooms. Swimming pool not included in our rate so for 4 of us to go swimming would have cost £30 :(; Ryokan Kazuki, Kyoto - lovely experience. Large room for 4 people with 1.5 bathrooms. Choice of 2 Onsens, the one I went in was quite small but very private and more relaxing. The private dinner was a great experience - it almost looked too good to eat. The service again was very good; Shilba Park, Tokyo - we were in the annex and although comfortable the rooms were tired. Good location and great for the monorail back to the airport. Staff nice and friendly.
