We stayed at the Kabuki, which was well located in the Japanese quarter but within walking distance of Union Square and the Chinese area and downtown. San Francisco was the perfect start to our honeymoon. As we only really had a couple of days to get around the city we can highly recommend doing the hop-on, hop-off bus tour as it is the best way to see the whole city. January 2012 - what a wonderful city, the Hotel Adagio is in a great location, with Diners at every turn for breakfast, they were so large we normally went through until evening! Definitely hire bikes and cycle from Fisherman's Wharf over Golden Gate bridge to Sausalito and catch the ferry back. Brilliant start to our holiday - we chose to have only 2 days here which was hardly enough but I would recommend a cycle over Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito then get ferry back - passing Alcatraz. Tram ride is another must do - even a taxi ride was a blast!
