Fantastic ski resort, beautiful runs to suit all abilities, very alpine. Everyone in the resort - from the lifties to the restaurant staff - are really friendly. Whistler puts in so much effort to ensure your ski experience is good, and it really pays off. The mountain guides were very helpful, and whilst busy, the resort never felt crowded. Some runs we didn't see another person and you feel like you have the whole forest to yourself. Lovely off piste areas to suit all levels. The lifts were busy but moved along quickly. Peak 2 Peak gondola is a definite highlight on a sunny day. Whistler village is very attractive, easy to walk everywhere. Good selection of restaurants and supermarkets to suit all tastes. Again, it was busy but not crowded, and a good atmosphere at all times. Excellent hotel (Summit Lodge), the kitchen area was a real bonus and the staff were very friendly, especially the bus drivers who take you to and from the slopes. It's an easy walk, but at the end of a day on the mountain, it was a welcome sight!

This was our first time skiing in Canada. Whistler offered everything we had read about in terms of extent & terrain and the piste maintenance was outstanding. When fresh snow finally arrived it did seem that access to several of the lifts/ runs was restricted (this may have been due to the high winds), though there was still plenty of fun to be had. When we found ourselves skiing in white-out conditions it was generally only caused by a thin band of cloud and it was a simple matter to move somewhere higher or lower on the mountain. We couldn't believe how quiet some of the slopes were and often our group had beautiful tree-lined pistes to ourselves. Lift queues were rarely a problem and their polite and civilised manner was a revelation to someone raised on the slopes of France. When it did look like a five minute wait was likely, resorting to the "Singles" queue saw you straight onto the lift. Eating on the mountain was mostly of a mass dining/ canteen style, though with a small number of cosy-looking alpine lodges available and also a couple of restaurants located in the main eating areas. Food service was very efficient and catered to many dietary needs; for someone on a gluten-free diet there were plenty of well-highlighted options available and staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. This was the first time that our party member with Coeliac Disease had put on weight whilst on holiday since being diagnosed ten years ago. If you wanted to take your own food there were even microwaves supplied. Whistler town itself was a bustling place, though definitely not cheap. Overall a totally different experience to skiing in Europe and one that we would plan to repeat before too long.

We visited Canada, Whistler on the 7/04/2011 with the family for 10 days, and I must say what an amazing holiday we had. Everything went to plan, and the staff at the Delta could not do enough for us. They were polite at all times and made us feel more than welcome, especially the children. The ski hire and lessons we booked were fantastic and very organised. We enjoyed our holiday so much that we can't wait to go back again next year and we have only been back two days! The only down side to the holiday was the airline we went with, Thomas Cook. The flight was long enough without having to plead for drinks with the crew, only 1 drinks service in 8 hours, and when I requested more fluids I was told we had to wait for the drinks trolley to come around again. The return journey had a 10 hr delay followed by a 9 hr flight and no in-flight entertainment. All in all though fab holiday, Ski Safari were fantastic and very helpful.

Whistler is a fantastic resort for any wheelchair user, practically everything is fully or partially accessible, most places have accessible toilets and bars, the whistler adaptive ski program is fantastic with the kindest and most fun instructors, the buses all have wheelchair ramps and you can use them independently and the people are incredibly kind and considerate! As a wheelchair user myself I will definitely return.
