Excellent on-mountain ski village. A bit like Whistler but prettier and with a more cosmopolitan vibe. Lots of eateries but nowhere you felt you would be missing out on an experience if you didn’t visit (except perhaps the La Diable microbrewery) that you get with eating at Diva in Steamboat Springs or Rimrock in Whistler. This is a slight disappointment, but did mean there was no need to plan ahead or to book anywhere in advance. The mountain is bigger than you think and more than kept us amused for 13 consecutive days of skiing. But worth nothing just how cold the lifts are and how hard they like the pistes in Quebec. On occasions some runs were as smooth and slick as glass. Although it certainly kept you on your toes; and your edges. But we loved the resort. The people were warm, friendly and very happy to engage in (English) conversation. We always felt welcomed and wherever we went we had a wonderful social time as well as enjoying some fantastic skiing.

Very pretty resort and outstanding customer service throughout without the lack of authenticity that you might find Stateside. The variety of terrain and quality of the runs was unexpectedly good and the piste conditions were fantastic. Even in very low temperatures and having not snowed for 5 days or so, the pistes were in great condition and the snow was powdery throughout - odd patches of ice but not many. The start of UK half term coincided with U.S. bank holiday and so the weekend was busy, but more so the lift queues than the runs themselves. Use the single lanes on the bubble, even with kids if they're capable as it's very rare that at least 2 of you don't get in together. Once you're up the mountain, there is good info on which lifts are busy with 3 classes of waiting times (0-5 mins, 5-15 mins, 15 mins +) and so if you plan around that, you can keep skiing without a wait. The temperature does fluctuate wildly and some days it was unbelievably cold (-18 with a windchill of -34....) but there is a shop on the mountain and in resort selling hand warmers, balaclavas, etc. if you're caught out. Kids ski school was expensive but very good - we got great feedback from both teachers including an unconditional offer to email us further tips for our daughter to improve and a video of her skiing (which we had consented to) if we wanted a copy of it. We stayed in Lodge de la Montagne which was great value, quiet, but very close to both the piste and the village centre. Nice touches such as unlimited free coffee pods and dishwasher tablets and very helpful reception. Slightly bizarre locker system akin to cracking a safe but we got the hang of it :) Nice bars, good food, although you can't book most places so have to queue quite often (but usually for a very short time - the waiting staff are attentive and good at getting you in). Kids meals are big and often come with free refills so hungry kids well served. Anyone arriving on a Saturday self catering with a tired family might be better served from the village shop (good bread, cheese, ham) for dinner as weekends are busy with Tremblant often the resort of choice for the East coasters and so tables are hard to come by quickly. Nice little resort with good skiing and an easy flight - no jet lag! Enjoy :)
