After a week of clouds and powder snow in Revelstoke, Sun Peaks was a chalk and cheese change. Much more like a traditional Austrian ski resort, but with Canadian quality snow. Ski-in, ski-out, family orientated, intermediate skier heaven with some decent off-piste areas but not enough to challenge experts for any length of time. This is a very picturesque ski mountain with great piste skiing through the trees. Good snow parks with big jumps, so good for teenagers.

A great, attractive ski-through resort with a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. and some amazing village and mountain cafes. The ski area is easy to navigate and has something for everyone from long greens to double-blacks, bumps, glades, bowls and a little in-bounds backcountry area. Mostly quiet, with predominantly no lift lines (other than maximum 10mins in spring break weekend!). Will definitely go back.

Sun Peaks is a small village with a huge ski area - perfect. The snow this year was outstanding in quality and quantity. It was a little busier than previous years, but still gave no problems in lift lines or on the piste. We very often came down runs and saw no other skiers. The big downside this year was that Mount Morrissey was closed due to a accident with a snow machine, which hit the power supply for the lift. This has never happened before, but there was still more than enough to ski. In the village itself, there are enough places to eat - just! You have to book the night before if you want to eat in a restaurant - except for the Cahilty Lodge, which has a good atmosphere and an excellent menu. Other places we recommend are the Steak House and the Japanese restaurant. There are many other activities to try if you fancy a day's rest from skiing - we walked down to the Magic Cattle Guard for elevenses and tried their berry covered waffles. In past years we have tried cross country skiing and believe me when I say that the waffles are easier. The transfer time to the resort is about 45 minutes from Kamloops, which is in turn a 40 minute flight from Vancouver.
