This is a superb resort with a small village and vast ski area, which is suitable for all levels of skiers. The lifts cope very well with the numbers even during the busier weekends - there are never lengthy waits. Once you are on the mountain, you can stay at the top and ski for hours without returning to the base - although, then you'd miss Bolacco's coffee bar and pastries! The piste map is comprehensive yet simple, there are only twelve lifts in the resort but they feed three hills and huge ski areas. This is one of the friendliest resorts we have ever been to; the locals are proud of their village and it shows - everyone chats on the lifts. Is it worth it? Nine and a half hours flight to Vancouver, 40 minute very bumpy flight to Kamloops and an hour transfer in a snowstorm? It is worth every minute of the journey (even the landing at Kamloops); the skiing, the friendly locals and the restaurants - I recommend them all. Favourite places to eat are the Steakhouse, Bella Italia and Morrisey's - all different types of fayre, but all superb.

It is like home from home. No lift queues perfect snow. Small town but enough to do the best kept secret. It needs to stay small and unknown. Have been here many times before and keep returning as it is has something for everyone, there is a large amount to ski for any ability. Everything is well kept the staff are so friendly. Food is slightly more expensive due to it being so far from the main town Kamloops.

Very good for everything. motorway skiing for intermediates, moguls if you want them, high up Gil's and other areas for Powder. Slightly short of snow, but plenty to go at. Can get swamped with crowds at weekends or when conditions are good, ie not enough bar space for a drink/meal at dinner, & can be same for evening meals. Ate Breakfast at the hotel, (Grand Hotel) fixed price for buffet b'fast, $50 room credit was a good start. A little more expensive then we thought, seamed to go through money quite fast compared to Big White 2nd resort. Sun Peaks isn't really a resort would spend more than a week at. Ski passes ?? Old fashioned bar code scan types tie wrapped to jacket!!! WHY? last had that in 1986. Note all cash machines charge for a withdraw.

We have been to other resorts in Canada - Whistler, Banff, Lake Louise, Tremblant, Fernie and Big White but Sun Peaks is by far the best. The skiing over the three mountains was varied and well thought out. The grooming of the runs even during the week, when things were quite, was excellent. The design of the village and the accommodation was first class. Everything was close by and the Alpine village feel was lovely. The amount and variety of restaurants and bars was very good. Also ski in and ski out sometimes can be a bit misleading with maybe a short walk to the slopes or back again. In the case of Sun Peaks ski in ,ski out from the Grand Residences is just that ski in ski out! I would have no hesitation in recommending this resort to anyone. In fact we are booking the same two weeks for next year.

Really pleased we headed [to Sun Peaks] first. It is a great resort, really relaxed, a great place to chill out and find your ski / board legs again. The Grand Hotel was lovely, the Summit Club a nice touch too. They have designed the resort well, making great use of the natural features and terrain, and so big, didn’t realise just how big it is. Some lovely mellow, long runs just perfect for reawakening those muscles. You just can’t help yourself but grin from ear to ear as you swoop down through the islands of trees. Then when the legs are feeling good to go in search of the steeper runs or play in and out of the trees or even in the bumps, if you are so inclined. The temperature had been very low the week before we arrived and they hadn’t had any real amount of fresh snow for a couple of weeks but Stuart and I were still able to find some caches of untouched powder, (big smiley face). Stuart even ended up waist deep and had to use his board to dig himself out one day. I really wish I had had the Go Pro with me, I was crying with laughter !!!! The village was lovely with a nice selection of shops and places to eat, but we tended to end up in the bar at hotel most evenings - a good steak sandwich and a “good crack”, as they would say in Cumbria, with the staff and other guests. Would happily recommend a visit, especially if you want to relax and enjoy some long cruising runs.
