Sunpeaks is a lovely little resort a short drive from Kamloops airport. There were plenty of eating out options and bars. However, if you wanted to cater for yourself the produce in the village shop was very expensive (approximately 3 times the cost of similar UK items). The skiing was excellent with plenty of slopes for all abilities. The majority of lifts were very slow so on chilly days you could get very cold when travelling on the lifts. The one slope side restaurant/bar was very pleasant with views out across the mountains.

Like Silver Star a small village but it has everything you need. A good store and some nice restaurants and cafes. The Masa Café is handy, reasonably priced and has a good menu and choice of beers and wines. lodges would charge. Oh for a good dump of snow and we could have lived in Crystal Bowl and the Chief. Alas no such luck this time. The runs off the Sunburst Express were really good and the park under the whole length of that chair was by far and away the best of the three resorts. Other than no half pipe (not that I’ve ever been near one, just in case I accidentally slid in to my doom), it’s one of the best I’ve seen anywhere. The runs off the Sunburst Express, especially the groomed black Broadway, are again typically Canadian, wide, steep and perfectly managed. The new Orient chair seems to be there mainly as a link between the new condos/lodges that are being built nearby and the main runs. Either that or it’s a work in progress with further development to come. The runs off the Morrisey Express were shorter and mellower but had some very picturesque tree islands to pick your way between. I did get to see a squirrel crossing in front of me there, it looked as surprised as I was. I was getting ready to take avoiding action it when it darted sideways at breakneck speed.

We have just returned from a fantastic Christmas holiday in Sun Peaks . It is an amazing place . The resort is quite compact but very pretty and the skiing is absolutely brillant. Lots of choice of slopes and so pretty with lots of fantastic tree lined runs. Compared to Europe the queues for lifts were non existent and the slopes were empty too. Everyone very polite and not pushy in the small queues we had. Some of the best skiing we have ever had. We stayed at the Sun Peaks Grand and it is a lovely hotel, everyone really nice and helpful, ski hire and ski valet all on site. Everyone in resort was very nice and helpful. A wonderful place and we hope we can visit again .
