Perfect location but can be quite soulless. Strong recommendation to select full condo so you can sort out your own food and entertainment. You need a car to get to Golden which is 14km away. The resort has 'quiet time' by law between 10pm and 8am and it's noticeably quiet in the only resort bar so not a party location but if you've skied hard, perhaps not a problem. The noise law though does not apply to the piste groomers who started between 3-4am on some days while we were there! Also there are no curtains in some rooms, only blinds, so the lights left on all night on the gondola and chairlift do illuminate your room...again perhaps not a problem if you've skied your legs out and sleep like a baby!

We arrived at Kicking Horse in some trepidation as Trip Advisor comments on the accommodation were varied. However although the rooms were on the small side by North American standards they were better than average when compared to European ski resort chalet accommodation. The presence of a washing machine and tumble drier was a real bonus. It was a short walk to the pub just off the mountain which served excellent food, beer and wine. The parking was underground and easy to negotiate. The desk staff were friendly and helpful. If we go back to Kicking Horse we would definitely stay at the Glacier Mountain Lodge again.
