Canada’s northernmost resort, Jasper’s scenic ski area (Marmot Basin) is relatively compact, famously uncrowded and great for all abilities. With a great on-piste vibe, Marmot Basin is known as The Big Friendly. The backcountry was previously limited to the bowls and tree-lined gullies within this area but new terrain has now opened to put Marmot firmly on the map.

Tres Hombres is a large, north-facing area previously beyond Marmot Basin’s outer limits. Without any trees, and measuring around 45 acres, it is providing advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders with incredible, wide-open off-piste terrain including powder-filled bowls and chutes that descend 367 vertical metres - Marmot Basin’s longest, uninterrupted fall-line.

On the banks of the Athabasca River, Jasper town is a 15-minute shuttle from the ski area. This 19th-century fur-trading post has a wonderful sense of community - the locals go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Facilities are excellent, with plenty of restaurants and shops. Après activities range from drinks at Caribou Chalet Lodge, to swimming at the local aquatic centre, and guided tours to frozen waterfalls. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of a moose or elk by the river during your Jasper ski holiday.

"The skiing in Jasper is fantastic for a small mountain - it’s very diverse and advanced skiers can get a lot out of it in just a few days."
