A tropical archipelago with golden sands, green peaks and simmering sunsets, Hawaii is one of the world’s most romantic destinations. Here you can sunbathe and sip cocktails, try hula dancing and fire walking, or go jungle trekking and big wave surfing.

Whistler is not only North America's largest ski resort but is regularly voted its best too. It's a must-visit for any skier or snowboarder for the incredibly varied terrain, huge choice of accommodation and a lively mountain village.

All our holidays are tailor-made to suit you, so you can take your pick of Hawaii's islands and North America's ski resorts, but out most popular ski & sun combination is Whistler and Maui. You can travel here anytime but January or February are best for both the superb snow conditions and peak whale-watching season in Hawaii.

We’ll take care of all your holiday arrangements, from hotels and ski passes, to flights and transfers, putting everything together to create a seamless escape at the best price. Our specialist Andy has visited Hawaii several times and skied extensively in North America, so he’s full of advice and ideas.

"What could be more perfect than a week in the world's best ski & snowboard resort with its romantic hotels, world-class facilities, 11.5 metres of snow and a plethora of activities followed by a week in the tropical Hawaiian islands, with their pristine beaches, welcoming Polynesian culture, spectacular sightseeing, luxurious oceanfront accommodation and world-famous water sports in the crystal clear Pacific ocean?"

Itinerary

This sample itinerary is our suggestion of how you could combine skiing in Whistler with time in Hawaii. Flying in and out of Vancouver, it’s also an excellent opportunity to experience one of the world’s most liveable cities. All our Ski & Sun holidays are completely customisable, and you can alter the itinerary to suit your preferences - whether that means skiing in a different resort, visiting a different Hawaiian island, or altering the balance of ski and sun. It’s completely your choice but, to get the most out of your trip, we recommend at least a week in each destination.

Maui

Hawaii’s second largest island, locals refer to Maui as 'no ka oi' meaning 'the best,’ and we’re inclined to agree. A true tropical paradise, it’s also the best island for watersports and outdoor adventures.

Simple pleasures like strolling hand in hand or watching the sun set become all the more romantic on Maui’s deserted sands and palm fringed coves. And you can laze all morning by the hotel pool or go hiking in bamboo forests, snorkelling with turtles or surfing on barrelling green waves. The island’s rich Polynesian culture is another highlight, and attending a traditional Hawaiian feast (a luau) is a must. If you visit in January or February, humpback whale sightings are almost always guaranteed.

Maui beach resorts - our pick

Maui’s oceanfront resorts are spread over four different areas. Each offers something unique, and has accommodation options for all budgets. For a truly unforgettable stay, ask us to book you an ocean view room, suite or cottage.

Kapalua - Near the island’s northwest tip, Kapalua has a series of lava peninsulas, marine sanctuaries and quiet sandy coves.

Kaanapali - Maui’s largest resort area, with sweeping beaches as well as golf, shopping and restaurants/bars. Ideal if you want to be at the heart of it all.

Kihei - A relaxed and casual resort with six miles of beaches, plus good shops, galleries and lively nightlife.

Wailea - Charming and serene, with crescent-shaped beaches, Wailea has an excellent shopping and crafts centre, as well as upscale restaurants and the beautiful Four Seasons bar.

Activities in Maui

Surfing, kitesurfing and windsurfing - From beginner waves and kitesurf spots, to some of the world’s most challenging breaks, Maui is world famous for watersports. Almost any sport is possible, at any level, so ask our team for advice. If you’re already an expert surfer, ‘Jaws’ on the north shore is the ultimate challenge, or a great place to watch the pros.

Sightseeing - Visit plantation towns, tour the historic district of Lahaina and see the biggest Buddha outside Asia. Stop at old Hawaiian churches, visit Maui's whaling museum, and marvel at the beautiful Lao Needle and West Maui Mountains.

Go to a luau - Attend a traditional Hawaiian feast with food, music, hula dancing and fire walking.

Drive the Hana Highway - Follow 56 miles of winding lava shoreline, passing beaches, plantation towns and waterfalls. Stop to dive into plunge pools and explore lush forests.

Swim and snorkel - Choose between more than 80 beaches along 120 miles of coastline. Each one different, the sands range from white and gold, to black and green, while snorkelling over the coral is simply stunning.

Whale watching - Gaze out from the shore or join a whale watching boat excursion. January and February are best for sightings.

Spas - Most hotels have superb spas, with treatments ranging from pedicures to full body massages in cabanas on the beach.

Eating out - All resort areas have an excellent range of restaurants and bars, whether you want fine dining or informal drinks and snacks. For a real treat, we particularly love Nick’s open air Fishmarket at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea.
