Why Aspen?

Viewed by many as Colorado's prettiest ski resort, Aspen combines a hip, classy town with one of the largest ski areas in North America. Extending across 4 mountains - Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass - the ski area offers endless variety for all standards and all on the same lift pass.

The Skiing

Aspen Mountain rises quite spectacularly from the town centre. Although this particular mountain is actually quite small – only 675 acres - the incredibly efficient shuttle bus system makes it very easy to visit the three other mountains. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk are a few miles outside the town and Snowmass is an easy 20 minute free shuttle ride away. Aspen Mountain and Highlands offer the most challenging skiing with some beautiful tree runs, gullies and chutes, whilst beginners and intermediates will revel in the huge variety of wide cruisers at Buttermilk and Snowmass. Snowmass is actually the biggest of the four and has a huge range for all levels of skier and boarder as well as some great accommodation alternatives. Please see the Snowmass Resort pages for more information.

Off the Slopes

Originally a mining town, Aspen has evolved into one of the most prestigious ski holiday destinations in North America whilst still maintaining its historical character and small-town atmosphere. Many of the Victorian buildings have been preserved creating a hugely picturesque town centre. There are over 100 bars and restaurants to choose from and bundles of boutiques and galleries to saunter around when off the slopes. Most are within easy walking distance of each other. Aspen is also known for its nightlife. This is where the rich and famous come to party so if celeb spotting is your thing, you are in the right place! However Aspen is also perfect for those looking for a more relaxed pace with plenty of local charm.

Accommodation

The accommodation in Aspen is generally of a high standard and so is the ideal destination for a special occasion.  The luxury properties like the Little Nell and the St Regis are truly incomparable. Most of the accommodation is within hotels but there are a couple of condo options that can be great value for groups, It is an exclusive resort and so does have a price tag but we cannot recommend it highly enough – go on and treat yourself! The secret is to take advantage of the early booking offers. For full details of the properties we offer please see our accommodation pages.

More Skiing?

If the four mountains of Aspen aren’t enough for you why not look at combining them with Vail or Breckenridge on one of our Colorado Ski Safaris. Alternatively how about experiencing some more of the best of the Old West style ski resorts such as Telluride or Crested Butte.
