Expert Opinion

"St Moritz is supposedly the sunniest resort in Switzerland - and I believe it! A cosmopolitan town, some lovely hotels, excellent skiing, there's something for everyone. The runs on Corvatsch are wide, steep, empty and covered in powder."

St Moritz, located in the beautiful Romansch speaking Engadin valley, is a chic, cosmopolitan ski resort that enjoys a champagne climate of 322 days sunshine a year topped off with high altitude snow. St Moritz is host to several annual international events such as the White Turf horse racing on the frozen lake and the Cartier Polo World Cup. It is a lively resort town with plenty of après-ski and shopping in an array of exclusive boutiques.

For those more interested in skiing, St Moritz has 350km of runs with 60 lifts over 4 mountains – those wanting to see and be seen are usually found on the sunny slopes of Corviglia just above St Moritz. The Corvatsch mountain and the Furtschellas area have a steeper gradient with some great runs for the intermediate and advanced skier. The Diavolezza is relaxed with a stunning 10km glacier descent, and Lagalb is more challenging with some thigh burning runs to the valley.

St Moritz is also home to the cross county Ski Marathon and has some of the finest cross country tracks in Switzerland. The transfer time from Zurich to resort is between 3-4 hours so it's ideal for a short stay or a week but we wouldn't recommend a weekend.
