Why Big White?
Big White – the clue is in the name. With an average 24.5ft of completely natural Okanagan snow, the third biggest ski area in British Columbia and Canada's largest totally ski in ski out ski village, Big White really is a first class winter holiday destination.
The trail map doesn't do the skiing justice - the area is much bigger, the runs longer and more varied. Its long rolling cruisers will have you whooping with joy and the steep descents of The Cliff quaking with fear. Beginners are very well catered for and Big White is a superb resort to pick up the fundamentals of the sport and quickly improve.
Off the Slopes
The resort centre of Big White is modern and cleverly designed to ensure maximum convenience. There are a handful of restaurants that provide good honest food at sensible prices and Snowshoe Sam's is the bar of choice. The Happy Valley Adventure Park features tubing, skating, snowmobiling, North America's only Ice Climbing Tower, dog sledding, mini z's (kids snowmobiling) and snow shoeing. Although by no means the most happening of destinations, there is plenty to keep families entertained and the compact nature of the resort makes for a hassle free holiday.
If you are looking for ski in ski out convenience, spacious condos and private hot tubs then Big White is ideal. The accommodation is arranged around the Village Centre and the Kids Centre on the main 'street' which you can ski along. All of the properties offer doorstep access to the skiing and there is something to suit every budget with fantastic early booking deals including free accommodation nights and free days on the lift passes.
Located deep in the Okanagan area of British Columbia, there are some incredible gems within easy reach of Big White. Why not combine Big White with Sun Peaks and Silver Star on the Okanagan Explorer safari and treat yourself to some incredible powder and seriously underrated ski resorts. Alternatively Big White can always be combined with a city stopover in Vancouver, Calgary or even Toronto.
