With arguably the best ski-in ski-out location in Åre, the award-winning Fjällgården (pronounced Fee-Yell-Gordon) is one of Sweden’s best boutique ski hotels.

Overlooking Åre village, the views are stunning, and if you take the Bergbana (funicular railway) you’ll be in central Åre in less than 10 minutes. The relaxed atmosphere always makes us feel at home here - the level of personal service is exceptional, and the outdoor hot tubs are heavenly. Inside the hotel, crackling fires and reindeer skins create a wonderful alpine ambience which bursts to life from 3-6pm when live bands arrive for afterski. As the evening draws on, the hotel transforms into a fine-dining restaurant that’s one of the best in Åre.

Fabulous hotel, really excellent customer service and brilliant atmosphere. The apres ski is so good and the cleaning team who restore the hotel afterwards within minutes has to be seen to be believed!

The hotel was lovely, the staff very friendly, the breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed the boisterous after-ski entertainment! The only improvement we could suggest is to have coffee / tea making facilities in the room. The room we were in was a little small but did have astonishing storage space. All things considered we would go back there

An awesome hotel so friendly with live music every night. Fabulous food. Word of warning do not choose the loft room unless you are very comfortable with heights. The ladder is vertical and very high.

Hotel Fjallgarden was excellent - staff friendly and always helpful. Food (half board) was imaginative and of a high quality including for the vegetarian. Wine and beer were prohibitively expensive at the hotel - very different from the UK prices at the Liqor Store in town. Location of hotel could be an issue as twice funicular broke down - only for hours - but they said they sometimes have to wai…
