BC Heli-Ski Safari
The BC Heli-Ski Safari takes in three of the best ski resorts Canada has to offer: Panorama, Revelstoke and Kicking Horse, plus a heli-ski experience in each resort that’s likely to be three of the best days of your life.
This fly and drive safari is ideally suited to good intermediates and above. You won't just fulfil a dream to go heli-skiing, you'll also ski some of the best and most challenging terrain in North America - in some of the deepest and lightest snow the continent has to offer.
The BC Heli-Ski Safari is ideally enjoyed over a 12 night period (four nights in each resort). This gives you a maximum of 11 days on the snow - three of which are in a helicopter. The vertical feet you will clock over this period will rival four years or more of ski holidays for most folk! The scenery is breath-taking, the people are friendly, the snow is out of this world, and the experience is like no other out there. This will be the best ski or snowboard holiday of your life.
Panorama & RK Heli-Ski
Start in Panorama, a great resort to find your legs. Warm up on one of its many long steep pistes, and enjoy some truly great advanced tree skiing in Taynton Bowl and the new 'Extreme Dream Zone'. You'll spend your 3rd or 4th day in resort with RK Heli-Ski who operate from the base of Panorama Mountain resort.
RK Heli-Ski have been operating trips into the Purcell Mountains for 46 very successful years. They average fewer than two "no fly" days per winter. The terrain has some of the lightest snow found on the planet, and some of the longest heli-ski runs in Canada - so a three run package will take all day. It will quite literally leave you breathless!
Revelstoke & Selkirk Tangiers Heli-Skiing
Moving on to the giant of Revelstoke - with the longest vertical in North America, and some of the deepest snow in the world, you are in for a treat. Revelstoke has mostly strong intermediate to advanced and expert terrain. Throw into the mix anything from 11 to 16 metres of snow annually - powder days are in abundance in “Reve”. When it’s snowing the tree runs are quite simply out of this world; many areas offer staggeringly steep glades with almost bottomless snow. Then, when the skies clear, North Bowl will provide a challenge for the most experienced skiers and snowboarders.
Revelstoke is unique in the sense that you can cat-ski and heli-ski from the base area. Selkirk Tangiers Heli-ski have been operating for over three decades. Based in the Selkirk and Monashee mountain ranges that make up the Columbia Mountains, they have half a million acres of powder to share with you on the package of your choice. It’s not just the resort that boasts an incredible snowfall average, this area has an incredible 12 - 18 metres yearly (ensuring one thing for you: the deepest powder turns of your life!). Considered the heli-ski mecca of the world, heli-skiing doesn’t get better than this.
Kicking Horse & Purcell Heli-Skiing
The final resort on your BC Heli-Ski Safari is the grizzly challenge of Kicking Horse: the most extreme terrain in Canada. Kicking Horse has developed their terrain well, with 75% of the mountain single or double black diamond. You can find confidence-boosting challenges everywhere (high fives are a common sight at “The Horse”). Top to bottom runs are 10 thigh-burning kilometres long! This resort has everything: steep alpine bowls, gnarly chutes and tight tree runs. A day at the Horse equals legs in need of rest - ready for more fun the next day, or the spectacular heli-skiing with Purcell that awaits.
For 40 years Purcell Heli-Skiing have been offering some of the most diverse heli-skiing out there. No matter what the weather, Purcell can find you amazing terrain in a variety of locations - majestic alpine bowls on clear sunny days, or beautifully gladed areas for when the snow is falling and skies are grey. Purcell Heli-Skiing has always been owned and operated by the Gertsch family, who live in Golden (15 minutes from the resort of Kicking Horse). It's a simple formula that has endured all these years: love what you do, do it well, and share it with others. The opportunity to share the joy of heli-skiing with visitors from around the world is a tradition Rudi (and his son Jeff) intend to continue. Rudi has set the standards in safety for heli-skiing, so you are well looked after whilst you enjoy the thrill of Purcell’s diverse terrain. For variety, quality of snow, fun, and scenery, Purcell Heli-skiing are at the top.
