Summary

The world's best snowcat accessed powder skiing and snowboarding in a tenure nearly three times the size of Whistler Blackcomb.

The BC Cat-Ski Safari takes in two authentic interior British Columbia resorts: Red Mountain Resort and Whitewater; plus a cat ski experience close to each resort. This fly-drive ski safari is ideally suited to good strong intermediate to expert powder lovers. If you're after the kind of terrain usually reserved for heli-skiing but without the relentless pace and down-days due to bad weather, and fancy getting face shot after face shot of super dry Monashee & Selkirk powder, then this is without a doubt the trip for you.

Dependent on ability level, it's possible to bank a huge 10,000 to 18,000 vertical feet each day - approximately six - sixteen runs. At the end of each run, a warm, comfortable, snack-filled snowcat awaits to take you back up while you recharge the batteries for more powder laps. The scenery is majestic and the experience is only rivalled by our BC Heli-Ski Safari.

Every holiday is tailor-made, just for you.

Suggested Itinerary

Our BC Cat-Ski Safari is ideally enjoyed over a 10 night period, with five nights in each resort. This allows for nine days on the snow - two of them in a snowcat.

Red Resort & Big Red Cats

The powder skiing begins in Red where you'll spend a few days exploring 2,877 lift accessed acres of truly incredible glade skiing, steep chutes, meadows and fast groomers (4,200 acres if you include the inbounds $10 per ride cat-skiing available). Once accustomed to the waist-deep interior BC powder and perhaps warmed-up on the $10 cat-ski runs on Mt Kirkup, it will be time to spend a day with the world’s biggest cat-ski operator, Big Red Cats.

Cat-skiing at Big Red Cats is all about the powder. After meeting at their HQ in Red you will be shuttled 20 minutes to where you begin exploring 20,000 acres of pristine BC powder spread over eight distinct mountains, each of which offers the world's best glade skiing and riding. The amazing variety of terrain means intermediate, advanced and expert skiers and boarders can get the most out of their day.

Whitewater & Valhalla Powdercats

Just an hour's drive away is the cool ski town of Nelson, where you'll find your accommodation and some excellent dining and drinking options. Just a few minutes further on, you'll find the best local's mountain in Canada, Whitewater. For those with a passion for epic winters in a unique and authentic setting, this is the place. It's heli-terrain without the need for a helicopter and it does not disappoint when it comes to snow, terrain and endless powder laps. Whitewater offers a good progression into the alpine from Red Mountain with some incredibly steep alpine sections, chutes, cliffs and amazing pillows. Simply enormous amounts of fun.

20 minutes from Whitewater, the Valhalla Powdercats base provides the gateway to what some like to call a true white gold experience, such is the quality and depth of the snow. This is true big mountain skiing, no surprise to find their strapline: “Some call it heaven, we call it Valhalla.”
