BC Cat-Ski Safari
Our BC Cat-Ski Safari is ideally enjoyed over a 10 night period, with five nights in each resort. This allows for nine days on the snow - two of them in a snowcat.
Days 1-4: RED Mountain Resort
After the three hour drive from Spokane you'll arrive at RED ready for what awaits. The powder skiing begins in Red where you'll spend a few days exploring 2,877 lift accessed acres of truly incredible glade skiing, steep chutes, meadows and fast groomers (3,850 acres if you include the inbound $10 per ride cat-skiing available). Rafters located at the base of the mountain offers the best apres and staple bar food but for a more refined choice head to the Josie's impressive restaurant, Velvet for some gourmet options. 5 minutes away is the cool mountain town of Rossland, where you will find more drinking and dining options. Once accustomed to the waist-deep interior BC powder and perhaps warmed-up on the $10 cat-ski runs on Mt Kirkup, it will be time to spend a day with the world’s biggest cat-ski operator, Big Red Cats. I recommend you check in at Big Red cats and sign your waiver the evening before your cat ski day. it cuts down on time and allows for a heartier and more leisurely breakfast, important to fuel up before a Big Cat ski day.
Day 5: Big Red Cats
Cat-skiing at Big Red Cats is all about the powder. After meeting at their HQ in Red at 0800 you will be shuttled 20 minutes to where you begin exploring 20,000 acres of pristine BC powder spread over eight distinct mountains, each of which offers the world's best glade skiing and riding. The amazing variety of terrain means intermediate, advanced and expert skiers and boarders can get the most out of their day.
Days 6-9: Whitewater
Just an hour's drive away is the cool ski town of Nelson, where you'll find your accommodation and some excellent dining and drinking options. Just a few minutes further on, you'll find the best local's mountain in Canada, Whitewater. Whitewater is heli-terrain without the need for a helicopter and it does not disappoint when it comes to snow, terrain and endless powder laps. To get the absolute max from your visit to the resort you must sign up for an In Deep Resort Guides - Take a guide, get priority lift loading, and find the best in-bounds (and semi out of bounds) powder stashes! Guides will take you into the lesser known areas of Whitewater Ski Resort, ensuring you find the sweetest turns and make the most of your epic day at Whitewater. Groups can be mixed skiers and riders, and guides may be either skiing or riding. How much - only $40 per person for 2 hours! WOW.
