World-class, snow-sure slopes, civilised flight times, stress-free transfers, stylish accommodation, and three-hour group ski school lessons. If you're planning a February half term ski holiday in 2026, Kvitfjell should be top of your list.
I'm fortunate to have skied in Kvitfjell many times over the years, including with my family, so I know first-hand how suitable it is for families over peak dates. The snow-sure, world-class slopes and excellent accommodation stood out at the time, but there were a few things missing to make it the perfect family destination.
Since then, I've worked with the resort to enhance the experience for families, including door-to-door transfers from Oslo Airport to meet a brand new, well-timed flight, new three-hour group ski school lessons, and improved accessibility for those who prefer to self-cater. And now, I can’t think of a better choice for a family ski holiday over the 2026 February half term break.

Brand new flights
Thanks to our specially negotiated flights, on which we have seats exclusively set aside for Ski Safari customers, your holiday starts and ends on a civilised note.
You’ll depart London Gatwick at 09:50 and arrive in Oslo by 13:00 local time, before transferring to Kvitfjell (via our new shuttle coach), arriving by mid-afternoon. That means you’re unpacked, settled, and ready to enjoy your first evening in resort without having to race against the clock.
And the return flight? You leave Kvitfjell in the afternoon and fly back to London in the evening. This perfectly timed itinerary even lets you squeeze in a final morning of skiing on your last day.
Excellent accommodation
All accommodation we offer in Kvitfjell is ski-in ski-out for the ultimate slopeside convenience.
My top pick is the contemporary 4* Yttersvingen Apartments - situated right by the main chairlift and gondola, with ski school, equipment rentals and restaurants just steps away. I had a fantastic stay here with my family in 2023, so I can personally vouch for them.

These apartments are a fantastic option for families, though in the past they’ve been best suited to those with a car. For February half term 2026, I’ve worked with the resort to make them more convenient for all families. You can now look forward to a complimentary welcome pack on arrival stocked with essentials (cereal, milk, biscuits, cheese, juice, bread, tea, and coffee), the option to upgrade to half board, and a free grocery shuttle service running on Monday and Wednesday.
The half board option includes a buffet breakfast and a two-course dinner at Gondolen, which is just next door.
If you'd prefer the services of a hotel, you can indulge in the 4* GudbrandsGard Hotel, a cosy, wood-clad retreat with a modern Norwegian twist, complete with an indoor pool and hot tubs to relax in after a day on the slopes.

Somewhat unique for Scandinavia, the GudbrandsGard is a full-board hotel perfectly positioned mid-mountain - making it exceptionally easy to ski back for lunch. The main restaurant, Gildestua, served a generous hot and cold breakfast and a three-course menu every evening, serving international cuisine cooked with local ingredients. For a relaxed midday refuel, guests can enjoy the daily ‘soup luncheon’ served in the lobby area.
Snow-sure slopes
Kvitfjell is renowned for its snow quality and long seasons. Snow typically arrives in mid-November and remains until late April, giving you a reliably white playground for February skiing. You'll enjoy fresh turns right in the middle of Kvitfjell’s peak snow period, ensuring perfect conditions for your entire stay.
When I skied here in April, there was still a deep snow pack and fresh snow (which my girls loved having snowball fights with!). Another huge advantage to Kvitfjell's slopes is that they are very quiet, even over peak dates. At times, it felt like we had the whole mountain to ourselves!

All-ability skiing
Originally developed for the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics, the resort is now a regular venue on the Alpine Skiing World Cup circuit. From 19 - 25 March 2026, it will host the FIS Ski World Cup Finals. For experts, the Olympiabakken downhill (designed by former Olympic gold medalist Bernhard Russi) offers world-class thrills, while accessible off-piste areas let adventurous skiers explore powder and tree runs.

But of course, Kvitfjell isn't just for experts - in fact, it thrives when it comes to families and beginners. Gentle, wide-open slopes provide an ideal environment to learn, build confidence, and even take your first powder turns. The scenery is spectacular, from Gudbrandsdalen and Rondane to the Jotunheimen National Park, inspired by the fairy tales of Henrik Ibsen.
The resort itself is made up of three distinct areas - Varden, Kvitfjell Vest and the original Kvitfjell slopes - all linked by a modern lift system. This means you can explore terrain suited to every ability level with ease. From gentle beginner runs to Olympic-standard descents and easily accessible off-piste, everyone can enjoy world-class skiing in Kvitfjell.

If you’d like to expand your skiable terrain during your holiday, there’s a free twice-weekly shuttle bus to nearby Hafjell, just 45 mins away. This is something I personally negotiated with the resort for half term to make it easier for you to experience even more of Norway’s fantastic skiing. By combining the two resorts, you can explore the country’s largest pisted ski area at no extra cost, as your lift pass covers both.
That said, you certainly don’t need to ski both resorts to have a great time - my family and I stayed in Kvitfjell for our entire trip, and there was more than enough skiing to keep everyone happy for a week!
New ski school lessons
Specially for half term, new group ski school lessons will run Monday to Friday, 09:30 to 12:30. I've worked with the resort to make this happen because, from personal experience, this is the perfect time for kids - and parents too! - to get the most out of lessons. It also leaves the afternoons free for more skiing, longer lunches, or just relaxed family time together.
The lessons will take place in Varden, which is right next to the Yttersvingen Apartments - another reason why I'd recommend staying there. If you're staying in the GudbrandsGard Hotel, don't panic! I've arranged with the resort to organise transport to and from the lessons so no one misses out.
Kvitfjell is an excellent place to learn and progress your skiing and, like the rest of Norway, you can expect top-quality instructors who will not only improve your skills but also make sure the experience is fun, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.
Authentic on-mountain dining
Kvitfjell’s on-mountain dining options are excellent, so you and your family can refuel, rest, and relax without leaving the slopes
Enjoy traditional Norwegian cabin dining at Tyrihanstunet and Koia, or the purpose-built Gondolen Fjellbistro. Varden offers a modern take on a Norwegian cabin, complete with stunning panoramic views. Simply put, there’s something to satisfy every appetite.
If you’re familiar with skiing in Norway, you’ll know that the food is consistently a highlight - and Kvitfjell’s on-mountain dining is truly top-tier.
