Already thinking about winter 2026/27? We love the enthusiasm! But booking too far in advance can sometimes be a false economy - especially when it comes to price.
You may notice other operators already advertising "fixed" prices for next season. What isn’t always obvious is that many of those prices are still based on inflated estimates, because their flight, transfer or accommodation costs and details haven’t yet been confirmed by suppliers.
If you book too early, you run the risk of:
- Paying too much for your holiday - operators will always apply enough of a buffer to try and cover unknown cost increases.
- Not receiving the holiday you were promised - once they are confirmed by suppliers, you may find that elements like flight and transfer times no longer work, that your board basis or even accommodation has changed, or that ski school times and durations are no longer what you booked.
- Having your holiday cancelled - in extreme circumstances, they may cancel your holiday if it's not financially viable for them to operate it.
Our approach is different
We only advertise holidays once the main three elements - flights, transfers or car hire, and accommodation - are genuinely confirmed and bookable. That way, the price you see is the real price, not an estimate dressed up as a fixed one. It protects you from overpaying now or facing an unwelcome increase or change later, and it protects us from having to make those awkward follow-up calls that no one enjoys.
Below is our guide on when to book your 2026/27 ski holiday, why waiting often benefits you, and the situations where it’s still worth booking early.
The 10-month flight rule
The single biggest element dictating when we can accurately price your holiday is flights.
Airlines typically do not release their schedules until 11-12 months before departure. And until those flights are live, nobody has true visibility on the flight schedule, and prices and times are unknown. You can see this for yourself by looking on an airline's website for dates a year from now.
But you shouldn't rush to book as soon as flights are released. Airlines often spike prices for the first few weeks before dropping to a more sensible fare.
Our decades of experience tell us that 10 months before travel is often the best time to book - once initial high prices have dropped, but before the lowest-fare seats begin to sell out.
The destination timeline - when to expect availability
For an accurate price, you'll also need to know your accommodation and transfer/car hire costs.
Not all destinations work on the same clock; when you can actually book your holiday varies by country, resort and hotel.
But as a general rule, contracts are typically released between January and May:
| Norway, Sweden and Canada | January/February |
| Japan | March |
| USA | April/May |
When you combine these dates with the '10-month flight rule', you'll have a good idea of when you can book your holiday.
For example, when Norway accommodation rates are released in January, we'll only be able to provide an accurate package price for early December departures as later flights won't be live yet.
June/July is often the best time to book. By then, we are usually fully on sale across all destinations and departure dates. Prices are typically at their lowest, and availability is at its greatest, allowing you to accurately compare options.
Why booking too early can cost you more
You might see other companies selling ski holidays 18 months in advance. They often achieve this by using a 'copy and inflate' strategy - taking this season's contract prices and adding a buffer to hedge their bets against rising costs.
That buffer can be high. Comparing some other tour operators' prices across this season and next, the exact same holidays are on sale for as much as 30-50% more.
Exceptions to the rule - when to act early
Just because we can't confirm a final price today doesn't mean you shouldn't get in touch to discuss your options. You should absolutely contact us early if:
- You want peak dates - you are looking for Christmas, New Year, or Half Term, especially in popular destinations
- You want something unique - you have your heart set on a specific penthouse or apartment, a boutique hotel with few rooms, or specific ski school times
How we handle early enquiries
If you're keen to start planning now, or you're worried about prices and availability, we're just a phone call away. Here's what we can do now:
- Provide expert advice - we'll help you plan the perfect trip and provide a rough price estimate based on our decades of experience.
- Hold key elements - if a crucial part of your holiday (like a specific hotel room or flights) becomes available before the rest, we can lock it in for you.
- Set a reminder - if we can't book your holiday right away, we'll set a reminder to contact you the moment supplier rates are released. You'll be at the front of the queue to build your package with accurate, best-value pricing.
There is no commitment to book until we provide a full quotation, and we can make changes at any time for you.
Regular customers will know that in past years, we've gone live with pricing in late December/early January. We also used the 'copy and inflate' tactic, but instead of providing a 'quotation', we provided an 'estimate'. Customers could pay a deposit to secure their holiday, but would have the opportunity to walk away and receive a refund if the actual cost came in above the estimate.
While we tried to be as clear as possible, this caused some confusion, which led us to change how we do things for 2026/27.
