A friendly and welcoming ski resort in the heart of British Columbia where you'll feel like a local from day one, more of our customers return to Sun Peaks than anywhere else.
And not just once... They go back again and again and again - and so do we! Our team and customers have been skiing in Sun Peaks for nearly three decades and we all still can't get enough.
Praised for its massive and diverse terrain, quiet slopes with next to no lift queues, a friendly vibe and a safe, pedestrianised ski-in ski-out base, Sun Peaks receives high acclaim from our customers every single season.
“Having skied at a number of North American resorts over the last 20+ years, Sun Peaks is right up at the top of the list for us. This was our third visit in six years - so good enough to keep us coming back.”
“Fantastic resort for all abilities. This was our third time in the resort, and we plan to return again.”

Read on to discover the reasons why our customers have found that one visit is never enough. Sun Peaks is one of our most visited resorts in Canada (my last trip was my sixth!), and we’re always eager to pass on our tips on where to ski, stay, eat and drink. Terrific All-Ability Terrain
Canada's second-largest ski area never gets old
“Great resort - our fifth visit! Really good variety of skiing suitable for our mixed ability group. The ‘new’ West Bowl is a fantastic addition to the resort.” - Carolyn Everall
The word 'boring' has never been uttered when speaking about Sun Peaks' three mountains: Tod, Sundance, and Morrisey. Because of the vast amount of exciting on-piste and off-piste options available at Canada's second-largest ski area, you're guaranteed to find a run you can't get enough of.

There’s a whopping 4,270 acres of skiable terrain encompassing 144 trails and 16 gladed areas to discover. And if you think you’ve skied it all, think again! Sun Peaks has added more terrain to its already impressive offering by introducing the West Bowl in the 2024/25 season.
The West Bowl on Tod Mountain is now easily accessible via a new high-speed quad chairlift. The expansion has dramatically increased the accessible terrain from 54 to 169 acres, creating a fantastic pod of primarily intermediate runs. Here, skiers and snowboarders will find newly groomed blue trails like the extended Whyte's Ride and Saddle Up, alongside the existing popular powder-filled open areas and gladed sections.

Since we’ve been skiing Sun Peaks’ diverse ski areas for nearly 30 years, there are a few runs which our team all agree stand out above the rest. For beginners, there’s no better place to perfect your turns than 5 Mile - the broad, gentle terrain stretches out for, well, miles! This is a huge bonus if hopping on a ski lift every two minutes isn’t your idea of fun.

Intermediates won’t be able to resist lapping Mid-Life Crisis and Still Smokin' just off the Morrisey Express. These cruisy runs are often quiet and leave you feeling like you’re the only one on the mountain.
As an advanced skier, my personal favourite is Crystal Bowl. The black diamond trail offers a brilliant blend of on-piste and off-piste terrain with heaps of powder stashes between the trees.
Quiet Slopes and Rare Lift Queues
Front of the line and maximising your time!
"A fantastic resort with a huge ski area and with little or no queuing for lifts and very quiet pistes." - Fiona Hendrie
Is there any better feeling than flying down a run to be greeted by an empty lift line? Enjoying that smooth glide through the lift pass scanners and seamlessly to your seat on the chair lift is a regular occurrence in Sun Peaks.
There are a few reasons why Sun Peaks generally enjoys minimal lift queues and remarkably quiet slopes throughout the season. Firstly, the sheer size of the ski area naturally disperses skiers and snowboarders across its expansive terrain. Even during peak dates, budding beginners will have plenty of space on the mellow runs to build confidence, and more established skiers have room to pick up speed for long, arcing turns without running into traffic.

Secondly, while Sun Peaks is a highly regarded resort, it flies slightly under the radar compared to some of the more internationally famous Canadian destinations, meaning it doesn't attract the same overwhelming numbers.
Finally, its efficient lift system, including four high-speed quad chairs, is designed to move people up the mountain quickly and efficiently, further minimising any potential bottlenecks.
This idyllic combination allows skiers and boarders to maximise their time exploring the magnificent variety of terrain across Sun Peaks' three mountains.
Ski-In Ski-Out, Ski-Through
Ski straight from the slopes to your front door and the village stores
“We love, love, love Sun Peaks. Awesome ski-in ski-out locations.” - Rachel Montague
Imagine the ease of stepping straight from your doorstep onto pristine pistes, ready to carve your first turns of the day - it's the reality for many of our customers who stay at Sun Peaks. The high standard, ski-in ski-out accommodations play their part in luring customers back to the resort.
The 4* Sun Peaks Grand Hotel is consistently the most popular ski-in ski-out accommodation amongst our customers. The hotel boasts the best location in Sun Peaks and is a 30-second ski from the Sundance Express chairlift. It features superb facilities including a large, slopeside heated pool and hot tubs - ideal for soaking weary legs after a thrilling day on the slopes. With our early booking offers, you can save up to 30% at the Sun Peaks Grand for winter 2025/26.

Sun Peaks takes the convenience of ski-in ski-out one step further with a charming ski-through village. The terrain through the village is incredibly gentle, so even beginners can benefit from skiing from the slopes to more than 20 diverse and unique bars and restaurants, plus high street shops.
If you find yourself skiing through the streets of Sun Peaks, I highly recommend you drop into the 'locals living room', otherwise known as Bottom's Bar & Grill. You won't find better nachos in British Columbia. You'll definitely want to share these and bring someone with a hearty appetite – the portions are just like the ski area; huge!

A Village Filled With Warm, Welcoming Locals
Expect a friendly reception every winter
“We have stayed at Sun Peaks seven times in the last nine years. It is the most friendly resort we have ever stayed at. Its wide open, well-groomed slopes are a delight to ski and safe for everyone.” - Angela Rhodes
The brilliant ski-through village is filled with exceptionally friendly locals and staff, who take pride in creating a genuinely warm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately puts visitors at ease.

The locals and resort staff are warm and approachable, always ready with a smile or helpful advice. They take immense pride in their community and do their utmost to provide guests with an authentic Canadian experience.
A prime example of Sun Peaks' high standard of hospitality is their Sun Host Mountain Tours - a complimentary tour of Sun Peaks' substantial terrain, led by locals who volunteer. If you're comfortable skiing a green run (and above), you can soak up the inside knowledge of the resort and learn the local tips and tricks from those who know the mountain best.
Fantastic for Families
Atmosphere, compact village and activities
“Sun Peaks is a great family resort, we really enjoyed the skiing - brilliant that the kids can do runs on their own and we still all end up in the one place.” - Susan Bayles
Many of our returners to Sun Peaks are families, and several factors combine to make this resort an ideal destination for all ages.
The compact, car-free village is a huge plus for families with young children, offering a safe and easy environment to navigate. The only traffic in the village you'll need to be wary of is slow-moving skiers!
Secondly, Sun Peaks' trail network has been cleverly designed so that every lift will lead you to a friendly green run. This allows mixed-ability families to ski off the same lifts and meet back at the bottom to catch the lift back up again as a group.

Off the slopes, Sun Peaks has a real focus on providing amenities that cater to families. The Sundance Kids Centre offers a dedicated daycare program for children aged three to five, ensuring they are entertained with a mix of indoor and outdoor fun, allowing parents the freedom to enjoy skiing together.
Then there's the extensive range of non-ski activities, with virtually every option you can imagine available. From dog sledding adventures and fat biking in the backcountry to guided ice-fishing for delicious rainbow trout and ice skating in the village, the opportunities are endless.

Terrific Tuition at the Ski School
Progression made easy
“We had a day's private lesson organised through Ski Safari, which saw all of the family improve significantly. Sadly, the kids are now far better than the adults!” - Andrew Kelly
Progression is addictive. And your skills are guaranteed to jump up a level with the Sun Peaks Snow Sports School's comprehensive programmes. Whether you're a complete beginner eager to find your ski legs or an advanced skier looking to perfect your powder technique, the knowledgeable and friendly instructors create a supportive and encouraging learning environment.

If you’re just starting out on your skiing or snowboarding journey, the learn to ski/snowboard full-day lessons are an excellent choice. Consider yourself a bit more advanced than a novice? The 'Next Step' group lessons are excellent for less confident intermediates striving to feel more at home on blue runs. For confident skiers, cruise the blues and performance lessons are ideal for perfecting your skiing and riding techniques.
Beyond the standard tuition programme, Sun Peaks features popular niche lessons, with the 'Nifty Fifty Super Group' being a standout. Tailored for intermediate and advanced skiers aged 50 and over, these two-hour sessions are led by experienced 50+ instructors and capped at three participants. If you fall into this category, we highly recommend seizing the opportunity to enhance your technique and gain confidence on any slope with these lessons.
