Ski Safari 2016/17 Photo Competition Winner Revealed
We were overwhelmed by the entries, with close to 450 photos and videos sent by email and posted on social media using the hashtag #skisafarimoment. It was a tough job to judge the winner but, without further ado, here's our favourite, for which the entrant will receive a bag of ski and snowboard goodies worth over £500...

Iain Allsop - Niseko, Japan
This really is the definition of a 'Ski Safari Moment'. Scoping out lines in Niseko's backcountry, halfway around the world, moments before dropping into a faceful of powder.
The Best of the Rest
There were so many fantastic entries that we wanted to highlight some of the others which came very close to winning. In no particular order, here are our runners up...
Jeremy West - Sun Peaks, Canada
A snowboarder riding into a rainbow on a beautiful sunny day in Sun Peaks (earning its name!) It also shows off how quiet the slopes are in Canada's second biggest resort.
Daniel Wickham - Nagano, Japan
A must-do excursion for anyone skiing the Nagano area of Japan's south island, Daniel's photo in Jigokudani Monkey Park is one of the best we've ever seen.
Julie Draper - Whistler, Canada
There are few places better than Whistler on a powder day and this photo shows how, once you get off the slopes, you'll have fresh lines all day.
Juliet Cherry - Trysil, Norway
To see the Northern Lights in a ski resort, you would usually need to travel to the Arctic resorts of Björkliden or Riksgränsen. Juliet was lucky enough to capture them as far south as Trysil in Norway, where they make a rare appearance a few times each season.
Anke Van Diessen - Snowbird, USA
This photo that brought back fond memories for many of our team. The post-heli drop preparations for a run you'll remember the rest of your life.
Mary Jones - Sun Peaks
Great framing in this photo - Mary and friends are clearly enjoying the sunshine in Sun Peaks!
Laura Newnham - Revelstoke, Canada
Laura's entries also included hiking, cliff drops and neck-deep powder hits, but our clear favourite was this backflip - something we certainly weren't expecting to see in the competition!
Mark Rhodes - Nozawa Onsen, Japan
Mark has perfectly captured a Nozawa Onsen snowboarding holiday - Japan's oldest ski resort gives you a taste of traditional Japanese culture right at the base of the slopes.
Nigel Grunshaw - Zermatt, Switzerland
When in Zermatt it's hard to take your eyes off the awe-inspiring Matterhorn, ever present from the town and slopes. Nigel caught the last light of the day on the peak, with the moon rising behind.
Owain Baker - Whistler, Canada
Whistler is by far our most popular honeymoon destination and Owain's photo captures why, with those extra touches on top of what is always impeccable service at Four Seasons.
Sabine Akerman - Åre, Sweden
Åre's free to use barbeques are perfect for family lunches on the slopes, warming up around the fire and cooking local meats - as demonstrated here by Sabine's family!
Adam Breeze - Steamboat, USA
Not many 11-year-olds are brave enough to drop into a half pipe, but Steamboat is a great place to start!
Alan MacDonald - Åre, Sweden
One of the 'artiest' shots we received, there's not one track on that slope.
Amanda Knee - Whistler, Canada
Recently named the national bird of Canada, the grey jay (or whisky jack as it's known locally) is a common sight in Whistler - often landing on outstretched hands, poles and even helmets - and caught in the act here by Amanda.
