With regular trains departing directly from the airport, the journey to the resort of Hafjell (pronounced har-fee-yell) is simple and quick - less than two hours from the airport to the slopes.

Probably best-known for hosting the slalom and giant slalom events at the Lillehammer 1994 Winter Olympics, Hafjell continues to attract the world’s best skiers and snowboarders as a favoured resort for big events like the Youth Olympics in 2016 and the X Games in 2017.

The area retains its Olympic heritage with the skiing overlooking the iconic Fakkelmannen, an Olympian carved into the forest in the Gudbrandsdalen Valley. It’s also home to varied ski runs that suit all ability levels, with the majority of these within the tree line. As well as being especially picturesque, the trees provide shelter from the weather too.

Hafjell’s gondola and lift infrastructure provides quick and easy access to the whole mountain. Even beginners can learn from the top in one of three dedicated areas, offering them an all-mountain experience from day one and easy access to on-mountain dining. Explore a bit further and you’ll discover wide-open runs, confidence-building terrain and technical challenges for those more experienced on the Olympic runs. No matter what your ability, you're covered on a ski holiday in Hafjell.

The resort’s on-mountain experience has been enriched in recent years, to include new cafes, bars, restaurants and slopeside accommodation.

The town of Lillehammer is a short bus journey away so the non-ski activities and shopping opportunities are plentiful. The Hunderfossen Winter Park is a particular highlight for families with horse sleigh rides, a troll restaurant/museum and the chance to stop for a drink inside the ice hotel.

"Hafjell has something to offer everyone both on and off the slopes. Gentle and uncrowded slopes for first-timers, challenging Olympic terrain for experts, plus a fantastic range of winter activities to suit all ages."
