There can be no doubt that putting turns down an Alaskan mountain face having just exited a helicopter is a dream for most avid skiers and riders. Chugach Powder Guides can turn that dream into reality with their incredibly varied program that tailors heli or cat skiing to suit your group’s needs.

Founded in 1997, CPG is one of the first, and definitely the biggest, heli-ski operators in Alaska. Based in Alyeska Resort, their passionate team have clocked up hundreds of hours of heli and cat skiing and are constantly looking for the newest and best lines. Their love of the mountains is infectious and they are always looking to impress the deep respect they have for their environment on their guests.

CPG understands that when clients travel all the way to Alaska, it is imperative that they ski or ride no matter what. With this in mind, they have made sure that even bad weather induced no-fly days won’t stop you from getting your powder fix and have developed a range of snowcat skiing terrain to ensure that you still manage to get those turns in.

The Chugach Range has gained a reputation for some of the best and most accessible steep powder skiing and snowboarding in the world and CPG offers a diverse variety of terrain, appealing to most ability levels. Strong intermediate, skiers and riders and above are all welcome. Modern powder skis and snowboards on moderate glacier runs are a dream for people on their first heli trip, while advanced skiers and riders enjoy virtually unlimited possibilities to their test their ability when conditions permit.

Long runs on glaciers and in the alpine zones are endless and pioneering a new line is always a possibility, you might even get to name it! Daily ski locations vary, based on selections by the lead guides after careful analysis of weather and snowpack stability as well as the strength, experience, and desires of the groups. Skiing big Alaskan lines requires the appropriate combination of weather, snowpack stability and riding ability but with over 750,000 acres to choose from, the goods are there to be had.

"Deep in the Chugach mountain range, each run is better and better with pockets of the deepest snow you can imagine."
