A Flying Visit to the Brand New 5* Limelight Hotel Snowmass
This winter, I felt it was time for a Colorado refresher and with an invitation to the December launch party of the exciting new development in Snowmass Village, how could I refuse?! This was a great opportunity to get first-hand experience of a stay at the brand new 5* Limelight Hotel Snowmass.
I travelled out with my Dad on 15 December and suffice to say I had a fantastic time in Snowmass and loved the Limelight, delighted to report that it really is every bit as good, if not better, than promised, and will most definitely be on my return list for a family holiday, soon!
The Limelight Hotel Snowmass
The latest addition to the new Snowmass Village, the Limelight Hotel Snowmass sits right next to the Elk Camp gondola station and opposite the lovely new ice-rink. Its boutique luxury hotel status is well deserved. Having just done a tour of the hotels in Vail and Beaver Creek, renowned for being truly upmarket, the rooms in the Limelight were amongst the nicest I saw, with a fresh contemporary feel, big bathrooms, handy little fridge and lots of hooks for ski jackets!
The hotel’s communal areas are very relaxed, inviting you to chill out, have a beer and enjoy the après live music in the lounge. They also have a family area, adjacent to the lounge so, unlike some luxury hotels which can feel stuffy and intimidating for families, you can relax with a drink while your children enjoy the space too. The bar/restaurant is part of the lounge and in the evenings has an informal ambience, with a simple menu and great wood-fired pizzas. The veranda was a very cool hang-out, with lots of gas fires overlooking the ice-rink.
The pool spas outside are huge and perfect to unwind in with a beer or cocktail. The climbing wall (where guests have free access) is fantastic, a real hit with kids and big kids alike – just make sure you put your name down early as it's very popular!
Work in Progress
We arrived on the very first night of the hotel opening and although this was pretty hectic with fresh arrivals for every room, all the staff managed admirably, were very friendly and responded to every query with a smile.
Construction of the new Snowmass Village is not 100% complete but this had very little impact on my experience. The incomplete buildings next to the hotel are all wrapped for the winter and start lower than the base village. There was no noise while we were there, and if any work is undertaken during the season, all work access is from the main road on the opposite side of the building and 100 metres below.
