"Great resort, plenty of skiing!!
We visited when short of snow and pistes were still in good condition.
Most of the skiers are American and far more friendly than my European experiences. There is a free shuttle bus every few minutes until 2am from one end of Vail to the other, so easy to get to the gondola in the morning or to more bars for Apre Ski.
Plenty of clothing and equipment shops.
Food on slopes is good and caters for all tastes. Mains are $8-$14 each depending on what you fancy.
Our group participated in both group Ski and snowboard lessons - Instructors were english speaking and everyone progressed. As it was quiet our group lessons never exceeded 3 pupils and sometimes ended up being 1-1!
Heated pavements in Lionshead and Vail Village mean they are ice free.
With EPIC passes are great - sensors at each lift mean that at the end of the day you can use your phone app to monitor how many vertical feet you have covered and also view and download the free photos that professional photographers have taken of you.
We bought passes in advance in the UK which was far cheaper than passes bought locally.
Rental equipment - do your research, may be cheaper to book in advance through Ski Safari. If you pay in resort - shop around as prices vary significantly, check magazines in hotel lobbys for vouchers and ask for discounts as shops will match vouchers for other shops.
CRACKING RESORT - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED"

"Just returned from a weeks ski ing at Vail. Stayed at The Sebastian for the first time and was very impressed by the level of service and attention to detail there. Some minor issues regarding breakfast but it's very obvious that management care and are very visible. They listen to concerns and act accordingly. Base Camp is one of the best ski in ski out we've experienced. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
Concierge at the hotel were always there to help and advise re days out to other ski resorts. All in all our best experience to date at Vail."

"just got back from vail and would like to share the wonderful time we had. i would definately recomend vail as a top ski resort. the terrain is huge with something for everyone, in 11 days we we only managed to cover half of the resort. manor vail lodge was fabulous and vail itself friendly and very picturesque . easter time is so quiet we rarely queued for anything and at times on piste we were completely alone. great snow and bright sunshine, excellent restaurants. be aware of the altitude, had a headache for first 2 days. thanks ski safari, great holiday. Kevin, Watford.

"We skied Vail at Easter 2010. We had 48 inches of fresh fluffy powder -what more could a skier ask for? It was fabulous."

"Quite the best ski resort in the world - over 5000 acres of piste - for all levels of skier. Fantastic beautiful town, great friendly people, not the cheapest place in the world, but if you want quality, Vail is the place to get it. Restaurants, shops, ski hire, piste marshalling, all exceptional."
