The brand new accommodation and modern lifts of this relatively new ski area (born 1997) (The Canyons was originally Park West, then was renamed Wolf Mountain in 1995, and officially became The Canyons in 1997. The actual ski resort has been around and operating since 1968) are already competing well with the other Utah resorts as an alternative base for a Utah ski holiday.
As the name suggests, the resort extends across tree-clad canyons, eight mountain peaks, two gondolas and multiple high-speed quads, spanning the gaps between them. The Canyons is particularly good for snowboarding with 6 natural half-pipes, gulleys and two superb terrain parks.
There is a small pedestrianised village dominated by the Grand Summit Resort Hotel which offers extremely comfortable rooms and many amenities. The Canyons has an excellent après ski with multiple locations in the resort village, from rustic and rowdy, to elegant and relaxed, along with 9 on mountain & resort village dining locations.
There are 7 main ski resorts in Utah all within an easy drive of each other and the three resort pass (see below) covering Park City, Deer Valley and The Canyons makes it easy to explore.
