Expert Opinion

“The largest ski area of Aspen's 4 mountains, Snowmass has superb intermediate terrain. With much of the accommodation ski-in ski-out this is a great family destination”

"Viceroy Hotel, Snowmass, excellent hotel, staff were amazing, ski shop on the third floor, free shuttle around the resort. Fantastic 2 bed suites with washing machine, dryer and kitchen. Amazing swimming pool and food reasonably priced in the restaurant. Will definately go back, overall excellent value. "

"Resort was big enough for a week although snow wasn't great towards the end of the week, with good conditions it would be incredible. Only downside would be getting to the other 3 mountains in the area as takes a good 20 - 30 mins on the bus. "

"We stayed in Snowmass for the second time in February. We had such a great time last year that we couldn't wait to go back - and it was even more fun the second time round. The ski slopes were quiet, the lift queues were short and the village had a great atmosphere especially on Big Air Fridays! The free shuttle bus ran regularly into Aspen where we found some very nice restaurants and art galleries. Snowmass had everything for us, slopeside hotels, shops, restaurants and not overly busy - can't wait to go back! "

"Snowmass is a wonderful resort with a huge variety of ski/boarding terrain. It boasts one of the longest runs in North America, and the tree runs are fantastic. There are several terrain parks catering for all levels of ability and the ski school is superb. An excellent bus service connects you to Buttermilk, Aspen and Aspen Highlands with its highly acclaimed bowl skiing. Snowmass is my favourite resort in the world!"

"Ski Safari - what a fantastic company. The consultants have an excellent knowledge of the locations and organised every aspect of our holiday making life really easy for us. "

"Very expensive to eat or drink on or off the slopes, and very little life in the village after the lifts closed, but otherwise absolutely first class"

"Snowmass is a great resort for all standards of skier for total beginner to expert. You can also ski Aspen and Aspen Highlands which are great if you are advanced intermediate but not for weaker skiers but Buttermilk is easy for beginners. Will definitely go back. "

"ideal for a mixed ability skiing party. Lots of blue runs of varying difficulty on three distinct hills. Black runs abound and there are some challenging 'double diamond' extreme blacks. The lifts themselves have been upgraded over the last four years and there are rarely any queues. Signposting of runs could be improved as the piste map is not entirely accurate nor to scale. The ski school is well organised but not cheap. Class size rarely exceeds four and a class will run with just one client . Plenty of entertainment for junior skiiers. There is now a variety of restaurants and bars at the base village. Much building going on which should keep condo prices in check for a while. Snowmass is a good four to five hours from Denver airport (c.f. Vail 2 hours) but the journey is worth it."
