"An excellent base from which to ski the Lake Tahoe area. The recommendation would be to have the 9 day pass and ski Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Northstar, Mount Rose, Kirkwood and Sierra in addition to Heavenley. In bad weather it can take time to get to resorts from South Taho but it is worth it. All seven resorts are different and provide varying challenges from very steep chutes at Mount Rose to some stunning glade skiing. Best resort Kirkwood; not to be missed on an itinary. Definately buy ski pass in UK from Ski Safari as proved far cheaper than in resort. You can find local deals for an extra day skiing; such as $35 to ski Sierra but these are few and far between and dependant on number of visitors in resort."

"Lake Tahoe is a fantastic resort with very varied skiing especially if you opt for the "7 resort ski pass" and have a hire car which allows freedom of choice according to the local weather conditions. We were given good advice by fellow skiers (the americans are very laid back and friendly)and consequently our mixed ability party was able to enjoy a range of options from courderoy groomed blue runs to moguls and steeps with blue sky and sun through to trees to escape the wind and poor visibility. We particularly enjoyed Squaw valley in bright sunshine the day after a fresh dump of snow.
Our "Pinegrove Townhome"appartment in Lakeland Village was fresh clean and palacial compared to our European experiences (although the shower was a bit weedy!) and self catering was a pleasure with the facilities provided."

"We stayed at Forest Suites so filled ourselves up with coffee, baguels and waffles each breakfast - mountain restaurants were not very good value. Fantastic views from the mountain tops and very few queues, lots wide well groomed slopes plus of trees to weave in and out if you want to add some challenge.Good selection of shops within walking distance of accommodation. "Great resort, lots of skiing, very close drive to other excellent resorts. Lots of shopping, nightlife and non ski activities for everyone. Only one criticism was a lack of good snow in April, beautiful sunshine and amazing views the snow was just hard to ski on for beginner/intermediate skiers. But I would highly recomend any other time of the season."

"Lake Tahoe is a truly wonderful place. The views are exceptional from the Heavenly ski area and the sking extensive and suitable for all abilities from the double black diamond runs to the gentle greens where they have a go slow area which is great for beginners. Unlike resorts in Europe there were no long lift ques and people actually say 'after you' rather than stand on your skis and elbow you out of the way. The people who work on the lifts and gondolas are also very helpful and pleasant as was everyone we met in the resort. On the mountain there are infomation huts next to the large piste maps and the guides are always willing to sugest routes for you or help you out with any questions should you wish them to.
If you can, get the area lift pass which allows you to visit other resorts in the Lake Tahoe area, such as Mount Rose, Squaw, Kirkwood, Sierra at Tahoe, Alpine Medows etc. (Not all have such extensive areas for beginners though so get a piste map from the info centre to check if they siute your needs.) We really enjoyed these and also the drives to them were very scenic, dont forget your camera and make sure you stop off at some of the beaches and view points. If eating out in the evening, it would be hard to beat the the Horizon casino - an all you can eat buffet with a huge choice for $9.99 ( for children it's cheaper) great value as long as you dont get tempted to have a flutter in the casino itself. There is something for everyone in the resort from ice skating, to cinema, shoping, to casinos. One word of caution - some hotels accept large groups on school skiing trips which could be noisy so check if they have any booked in at the same time as you before you book. "

"Lake Tahoe ideally located. Heavenly poor for intermediate/advanced - slopes not sufficiently difficult. Kirkwood and Squaw Valley found to be much better resorts. Try the Wall at kirkwood or the Womens Downhill double diamonds for some extreme snow sports :-) Mammoth resort was larger and much better for experts."

"All arrangements made by Ski Safari for our 10 day trip to South Lake Tahoe worked out perfectly. The informal advice from James was invaluable and he was ALWAYS right! Our townhome at Lakeland Village was a great place to stay and we appreciated the breakfasts, hot tubs, shuttle buses, and the housekeeping. We only found one decent restaurant which was only about 400m away at the end of the pier - Blue Water Bistro 3411 Lake Tahoe Blvd. The skiing at Heavenly was good intermediate stuff though as we had no new snow off piste was limited. We enjoyed our drives to Squaw ValletUSA Kirkwood and Sierra. Sierra is sheltered was particularly good for a day when very little at Heavenly was running due to high winds. GOOD JOB!!!!!"

"James was excellent - very patient! Lake Tahoe was fantastic, we enjoyed driving to the other resorts and Kirkwood was our favourite. Town atmosphere of Heavenly wasn't great but we knew that when we booked."

"Just back from Lake Tahoe, had the best time, Heavenly is amazing! Northstar, Squaw and Alpine Meadows are all well worth the trip too. The snow was unbelievable, a huge storm hit the weekend we got there, never seen powder like it. We'd definitely go back. Thanks to the team at ski safari for a great holiday! "

"Everyone should visit Lake Tahoe - not only is it the most beautiful place on earth, but there's almost too much to do! 2 weeks and 7 resorts to snowboard, awesome. We had a brilliant time, the snow could have fallen a little more, but we loved it. Thank you Ski Safari, yet another fantastic trip. x

"Just arrived home yesterday... had a fabulous time, it was my first time skiing - the instructors are great and are always so friendly and smiley -despite the blizzards ;-) !! Lake Tahoe is beautiful and the town is full of great little trinket shops where I found myself spending far too much! San Francisco is also an amazing place with so many things to do for everyone - I recommend biking the bridge, especially if its sunny. Alcatraz was also very interesting and makes for a great day out exploring the island.

"Not long back from Heavenly with my family and we all had a brilliant time. The skiing was great and the lessons and day care for the kids was first class. Everbody at Heavenly was really friendly and they really looked after you. Plenty to do at night and heaps of different places to go and eat. We stayed at the Lakeland Village which was very comfortable and their shuttle bus was a great way of getting around. As the others have said you must go and visit San Francisco. Its too good to miss. Thanks to all at Ski Safari for a first rate service and making this an amazing holiday. We're saving already for next year.
