"The Canyons has a vast ski area with a great lift system enabling you to access all of the mountain terrain. Better suited to intermediate and advanced skiers. The service from all of the mountain staff is a credit to the resort and the best we have experienced anywhere in North America."

"Very up market resort. The lift service was good with very few queues. The runs were excellent, although some of the runs were not open because of the lack of snow, there was still enough open for us to enjoy the mountain slopes. "

"Whilst the Silverado Lodge was excellent - the breakfast at the nearby hotel was also very good - the resort lacked atmosphere. Skiing we can not comment on as the snow conditions were poor and only half the runs were open.It seemed that should you not want to eat a full formal meal then you were somewhat snookered. However, saying that there was a free shuttle service from our accommodation to Park City where there was a good choice. Park city was excellent from point of view of choice architecture atmosphere etc."

"It's true what you read about the quality of Utah powder and The Canyons has loads of it. "

"We found the Canyons an excellent resort - beautiful quiet groomers, with plenty of snow, and also some good off piste boarding. We had some really brilliant powder days, but even when there's not fresh snow, the boarding is excellent. The lift attendants and instructors are all really friendly and helpful, and we had an amazing time! Would definitely go back."

"If you want to ski, rather than focus on night life or the Sundance Film Festival (late January), The Canyons is the best place to stay out of the three adjoining resorts of Deer Valley, Park City and The Canyons itself. It has instant access to the slopes via an efficient gondola or express heated chair and free shuttles are provided on demand around the resort. Free buses also take you to Park City and Deer Valley and will even take you to shop at supermarkets if you are self catering (there is a bare minimum of supplies in the Canyons itself). Skiing: Iron Mountain at one end of the system is generally easy and not particularly characterful but very quiet. Dream Peak area offers easy runs through to lots of interesting glade skiing. Ninety Nine 90 lift offers superb tougher runs and we saw no queues. The central area based on Tombstone Express and Saddleback lifts has very varied skiing, again with a lot of good glade skiing. The remaining side of the system has a huge range of upper intermediate to advanced skiing, serviced by the orange express chair and Super Condor express. The numerous double black diamonds shown on the lift map divide broadly into ones accessed direct from Super Condor (these are great in new snow but watch out for any freeze/thaw conditions). The ones off Murdoch Peak require 200m vertical of hiking, seem to be closed quite often and seem to be rarely visited, probably because there is such abundance of more accessible alternatives. Snow quality is excellent and a daily groomers map is available for those chasing corduroy. On hill lodges offer good value for money, free water and the option of eating your own packed lunches. Whilst we have skied for many years, the system as a whole would suit a mixed party from beginners to advanced/expert. Shops: There are a couple of sports shops, a Surefoot boot shop and a couple of small shops selling basic groceries. Restaurants: Four or five to choose from but if you want variety hop on the free bus for a ten minute ride to Park City, though don't expect eating out to be cheap. Note: It is perfectly feasible to ski days at Alta and Snowbird and various other resorts using shared transport from the Canyons, though if you wanted to ski a lot at these resorts, we would recommend splitting your stay between canyons and Snowbird/Alta. "Had a great two weeks with Ski Safari -- 10 days at The Canyons and then a short break in San Francisco on our way home. Skiing was fantastic, accommodation was great and the Ski Safari team were very helpful in designing a trip that really worked for our family. We'll be back!"
