Laax Tips & AdviceSwitzerland Flag

Expert Opinion

"Laax is a fantastic resort for skiers and for snow boarders alike. The skiing is easily accessible from Flims and Laax and is all interconnected... and there are some great apres bars to check out too."

Tips & Advice Info

On The Mountain:

  • Ski Passes - Ski passes for a duration of 6 days or more require a photo. Half day ski passes are available in the afternoons from 12.15pm. Beginner lift passes are available at a discounted price for limited parts of the mountain for both Flims and Laax. A one-off charge of CHF 5 is applied for the re-usable ski pass key card.
  • Snow Boarding - If you are a park junkie, head to the Snow Park at Crap Sogn Gion. There are rails, kickers, boxes and a half-pipe to keep you entertained.
  • Restaurants (fine dining) - For the best steak on the slopes, visit the La Vacca teepee at Plaun. They have a good selection of fine fillets which they cook to your request. This place is a meat eaters paradise but not so great for vegetarians. Try also Startgels for Ueli Grand's legendary cuisine.
  • Restaurants (cosy and traditional) - Stalla at Alp Nagens serves a range of specialities.
  • Snow Bars Schneebar Tegia Larnags is close enough to base station Laax to knock back a few Gluhweins without having to ski/fall too far back to resort. Gustis Jagdhutte is a converted hunting lodge with great views of the resort.

Off The Mountain:

  • Apres Ski Flims - For your first apres tipple, if you are staying in Flims go straight to Legna Bar near the base station. The Arena Lodge opposite the base station in Flims also has a bar and a nightclub.
  • Apres Ski Laax - The Crap Bar (named after the mountain not the service) and the bar in the Riders' Palace hotel are very lively apres ski spots in Laax.
  • Restaurants - For apres ski dining, try Tegia Larnags in Laax, La Cena in the Parkhotel Waldhaus, or the less formal Pizzeria Veneziana in Flims.
  • Spa - The Waldhaus Mountain Resort and Spa in Flims has an excellent spa if you fancy easing the muscles one afternoon.
  • Sledging - (2 times a week at night), ice-skating, wellness, spa, walking (60km marked winter-trails), cross country skiing, curling, carriage-rides, indoor-swimming, paragliding …

Families:

  • Creches - at the bottom stations of Flims and Laax.

Resort Facilities & Services:

  • Shuttle Service - free with lift ticket or guest card, runs every 20 minutes between Flims, Laax and Falera (to all base stations).
  • Airport shuttle service (LAAX-Shuttle) between Zurich or Friedrichshafen to LAAX.
  • Supermarkets in Flims, Laax and Falera.
  • Cash points are close to the base stations and in every village of Flims, Laax and Falera.
  • 3 Snowparks at Crap Sogn Gion with the largest “Superpipe” in Europe (Snowpark Beginner, Snowpark NoName, Snowpark Plaun). Minipipe, rails, boxes, kickers, 5-20m-jumps, bar, music at the snowparks.
