Why Laax?
Laax is one of the closest resorts to Zurich airport at just under 1½ hours by car but the train is also really convenient and many of our customers prefer to travel this way. Known as the White Arena, the ski area is vast and varied. The resort is made up of 3 Romansch speaking villages – Flims, Laax and Falera all of which share 235 km of interconnected skiing and boarding. Flims is the largest village and is pretty and traditional. Laax has recently undergone a transformation into a sleek, modern ski-in, ski-out resort with some excellent hotels and a selection of bars and restaurants. Falera is the smallest village, it is cosy, traditional and it is a car-free place.
Skiing reaches 3000 metres on the Vorab Glacier which lies directly above Laax. Nagens, above Flims, has a nice selection of easy reds and blues and Crap Sogn Gion has a variety of steeper blues, reds and blacks. There is also 40 km of designated freeride terrain.
As well as the excellent skiing, Laax has made its name as an international boarding resort and often hosts international events. Its boarding facilities include 3 half pipes, 2 mini boardercross courses and 2 freestyle parks.
There is no train station in Flims, however you can catch the train to Chur and the bus for the last 25 minutes of the journey straight into Flims and Laax villages. Alternatively you could take a private transfer or pick up a hire car at Zurich airport.
