Skiing holidays to
Engelberg Switzerland

Expert Opinion

"Engelberg takes my breath away. The skiing is steep and north facing, the surrounding scenery is incredibly beautiful, the village is historical and lively and, best of all, no one has heard about it. It’s a real gem and I love it."

Tips & Advice

  • Hire a ski guide for the day and discover Engelberg’s phenomenal off-piste skiing.

  • Visit the Igloo Village at Trübsee – an impressive village sculpted out of ice complete with fondu restaurant, hot tub and chapel for those who want to get married and then ski down afterwards.

  • Feast on the famous “Alpen-maggeroni” at the Fluehmatt restaurant, half way up Brunni, and then enjoy a torch-lit walk back to the village.

  • For a night of fine dining, head to Hess Restaurant on the Dorfstrasse. For a more traditional affair, the Alpenclub has plenty of atmosphere and hearty Swiss cuisine.

  • The Yucatan Bar does Happy Hour straight after you come off the slopes. If your stamina will let you, stay and drink for 12 hours solid until they throw you out at 5am!

  • For the non-skier, the Kloster (monastery) is well worth a visit, as is the on-site cheese making shop which makes and sells an incredible variety of cheeses.
