Our Tips

• Cat skiing - Fernie is a good place to sample off-piste backcountry terrain. Fernie Wilderness Adventures offer day cat-skiing trips from the resort which can be pre-booked as part of your holiday.

• Longer stays - although Fernie's name has spread across the world, the on-mountain 'village' is still fairly small. Keep this in mind if you are planning a longer stay.

• Ski Kimberley - Make use of the fact that the Fernie lift pass is also valid at Kimberley. Details of buses to Kimberley are available in the resort.

• Great Ski Safari Options - combine Fernie with other nearby resorts for a true Rocky Mountain Experience (see our Ski Safari link on the right for details).

• Steep and Deep Camps - join Fernie's local coaches for a 2-day session enjoying Fernie's powder and terrain whilst improving your all-mountain skiing and boarding.

• Ice Fishing - enjoy this quintessential Canadian activity on a day-trip that includesa a lunch-time cook-out.  Access is by 4 wheel drive or snowmobile.  Guides chop the holes while you sip a hot beverage and anticipate the catch of cutthroat, eastern brook or rainbow trout.
