Expert Opinion

"British Columbia is a skiers' heaven – famous for the quantity and quality of it snow, its varied terrain, well-run resorts and modern, spacious accommodation. I can guarantee there is a resort for you!"

Our expert Rupert Hatfield

The British Columbia area has an abundance of incredible ski resorts. Some of them you will have heard of and others are little known resorts to us Brits – large or small they are all worth a visit whether it be for a day or two or for a long stay.

Wherever you go you will experience high standards of service and accommodation, but all in a very relaxed but professional BC style.

The resorts can be found in 4 main areas:

Vancouver, Coast and Mountains

whistler skiing holidays

Small orange arrow Whistler
– ranked often as number 1 ski resort in the world and has to be on your list of resorts to ski in your life time…..

Thompson Okanagan

sun peaks skiing holidays Small orange arrow Sun Peaks– the second largest ski area in BC.
Small orange arrow Big White – it’s all about the snow….
Small orange arrow Silver Star – a colourful, Victorian-themed village - great for families.
Small orange arrow Apex – pure powder, great weather and incredible terrain.

Kootenay Rockies

red resort skiing holidays Small orange arrow Red Mountain Resort – big vertical, small crowds. Deep powder and diverse terrain.
Small orange arrow Whitewater – not for the faint hearted!! Deep powder and spectacular scenery.
Small orange arrow Fernie – a powder skiing mecca that offers an amazing diversity of terrain.

kimberley skiing holidaysSmall orange arrow  Kimberley – consistent snow and abundant sunshine makes it a family favourite.
Small orange arrow Panorama – spacious skiing for everyone combined with great glades and back bowls for the advanced skiers.
Small orange arrow Kicking Horse – with the Canadian Rockies' biggest vertical and lots of dry champagne powder, this is another must ski resort.

British Columbia Safaris

The smaller resorts all have something to offer and some excellent Ski Safaris can be planned combining several resorts together.  The more time you have the better and the more resorts you could include in your ski holiday. A few example combinations would be:

Small orange arrow The Okanagan Safari - combining Sun Peaks, Silver Star and Big White.  This can be done with careful planning using transfers, or alternatively by hiring a car. If you are on the hunt for powder and some hard core skiing then Red Mountain, Apex and Whitewater are a must.

Small orange arrow The Rockies Loop -  a great Ski Safari can be put together using Fernie, Kimberley, Panorama, Kicking Horse and the Alberta Resorts of Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper.

Small orange arrow The Whistler Loop - Whistler can easily be combined with Sun Peaks ski resort. Sun Peaks is a little bit like a baby version of Whistler and was designed by the same people. So, in one trip, you can ski the 2 largest resorts in British Columbia!
