Why Saalbach Hinterglemm?

Located along the beautiful Glemm valley, the twin resorts of Saalbach and Hinterglemm are 4km apart. Both are attractive with Saalbach and its cobbled, pedestrian centre and onion-domed church being marginally the larger and the livelier of the two. Accommodation is of excellent quality in both resorts and all hotels are centrally located and very close to the main lifts to ensure easy access to the slopes.

Both resorts are connected with the villages of Vorderglemm and Leogang by a very fast and efficient lift system, with over 55 cable cars and lifts making up the famous Ski Circus. The ski area has over 200km of marked piste ranging from beginners’ to challenging slopes and with runs right down to the villages.

Beginners are well catered for with nursery slopes conveniently located in the centres of both villages and with ski schools with great reputations that also offer excellent childcare. Once the basics have been mastered, there are plenty of easily accessed blues to practise on. With blue and red runs on both sides of the valley, intermediates will enjoy the challenge of completing the 40km Ski Circus itinerary in one day. The route can be skied in either direction and covers over 7000m of vertical. Plusthere are the quieter slopes of Leogang with its great choice of long and more gentle runs. In addition, advanced skiers can test themselves on the steepest terrain of the north-facing Zwölferkogel mogul field and the giant slalom course in Hinterglemm, the World Cup course on the Kohlmais in Saalbach and the many off-piste possibilities.

Après ski in this valley is renowned, starting on the mountain inside the many cosy, inviting, wooden huts or outside on their sun terraces with fabulous views and continuing in the bars at the bottom of the slopes – you’ll be enjoying the fun, friendly atmosphere and dancing to the fantastic Euro-pop in no time!
