Located in the Hoehe Tauern National Park, Bad Gastein and Bad Hofgastein, with their beautiful buildings dating back to the "Belle Époque" period, blend harmoniously into their natural surroundings.
Bad Gastein and Bad Hofgastein are two of the four areas that make up the picturesque Gasteinertal valley. Bad Gastein's attractive and tightly-clustered hotels cling to the side of the valley and are home to a number of lively bars and quality restaurants.
If you are wanting a quieter evening head to the flatter and more traditional Bad Hofgastein. The town is famed for its natural thermal spas, which are believed to have healing powers.
An intermediate skiers/boarders heaven Bad Gastein, Bad Hofgastein and Dorfgastein allow you to cruise a large ski area made up of immaculately groomed runs. If you are more an off-piste lover then head to Sportgastein and Graukogel where you will find plenty to keep you amused.
The valley is a great place for families and there are many alternative activities to enjoy including ice skating, llama trekking, ice climbing and cross country skiing. The Alpen Therme Gastein, a unique water park providing entertainment for parents and kids alike, is highly recommended!
Situated only 90 minutes from Salzburg airport, the Gasteineral valley is an ideal location for a convenient, week-long holiday .
