Ski School in America is quite different to Europe.
People do not necessarily sign up for 6 days packages. You can turn up each day and decide whether you want a full day or a half day’s lesson.
Class sizes tend to be quite a lot smaller than might be experienced in Europe and it is probably unlikely that you will be in a group of more than eight people – probably less.
Another major difference is that ski school is not only aimed at teaching people the basics of skiing although that is of course a key ingredient to any newcomer. Ski school is also concerned with improving the technique of skiers and boarders throughout every level of their development.
For that reason there are not only Learn to Ski or Ride lessons but also a range of specialty programmes to meet every individual need.
If you wish to move from the “plateau”, improve your technique in powder, tackle bumps or test your courage on the steeps, there will be a lesson designed around your particular requirements.
Private lessons are more expensive but are an ideal way to make that big step in technique and confidence.
There are also specialty programmes for women skiers and a full adaptive programme.
With English as the native language, instruction is a lot easier to understand – especially for children. Kid’s lessons start at 4 years for skiing and 7 years for boarders. They can be left in complete safety as a full day lesson includes lunch. Daycare starts with children as young as 6 weeks.
