Entering the USA as a visitor
Citizens of most western European nations are eligible to enter the United States without a visa, based on the visa waiver program. The person traveling to the USA must fulfill the following criteria:
- The traveler is a citizen of one of the countries eligible under the visa waiver program (click here for a list of countries)
- Traveling on a valid, individual machine readable passport.
- Traveling for business, pleasure or transit only (i.e. not to work or take up residence)
- Staying in the United States for 90 days or less
- Is in possession of a return ticket
- Can prove they have enough funds to cover their stay in the USA
Note: A passport indicating that the bearer is a British Subject,
British Dependent Territories Citizen, British Overseas Citizen,
British National (Overseas) Citizen, or British Protected Person does
not qualify for travel without a visa. A passport which states holder
has Right of Abode or indefinite leave to remain in the United Kingdom
does not qualify for visa free travel;Emigrating to the USA
